I'm with Bill Oddie on this one; “All the people you used to see dressed up as wizards, bananas and goblins for 20 or 30 years now turn up like you are going to a f****** funeral" Bill Oddie A wee bit of imagination is all that's called for... more than a Tull Tshirt less than a Rocky Horror Show. Give the band something to talk about after the show Tull fans queue for t shirts and flyers

As I'm already getting excited about going to the Sage next May, here's the view Ian and the boys will see from the stage.

Has this been mentioned before? A Venue for the End of the World (2014) Documentary film 2014 starring Ian Anderson "Haunted by uncanny similarities between Nazi stage techniques and the showmanship employed by modern entertainers, a filmmaker investigates the dangers of audience manipulation and leader worship." Wonder if this is why he made that quip about the audience holding up their phones and it looking like Nazi salutes

A Venue for the End of the World (2014) Documentary film 2014 starring Ian Anderson "Haunted by uncanny similarities between Nazi stage techniques and the showmanship employed by modern entertainers, a filmmaker investigates the dangers of audience manipulation and leader worship." Wonder if this is why he made that quip about the audience holding up their phones and it looking like Nazi salutes I have mixed feelings about using cameras or cell phones to record what is something very cool. Ian may get annoyed from time to time but I try to do it in a discreet and non-distracting way.
I've never worshipped TULL although I enjoy almost everything that relates to the music and art. It has lots of unique styles and lyrics that make you think about the world from different angles.
Back in the day, we held up butane lighters to join in an occasional quiet intro or audience participation. Because people got tired of wasting their fluid, cell phones became an alternative way to 'Light Up'. Even fluorescent sticks were easy to carry and made lots of cool colors that added to the experience.
I hope this documentary doesn't become an excuse to over-think what people enjoy doing. Hitler used large crowds to create a myth of Power and Superiority over those he despised. Sounds like a TRUMP Rally...

I hope this documentary doesn't become an excuse to over-think what people enjoy doing. Hitler used large crowds to create a myth of Power and Superiority over those he despised. Sounds like a TRUMP Rally... What must it be like to be 'all alone on the stage' and look out to a sea of faces, knowing there's thousands more that you cant see as well. People who have paid money to see and hear you. No wonder some musicians/actors/celebrities A-Z go a bit mental. I mean most people would rather listen to a musician actor/celebrity A-Z than they would to a politician who make policies that shape their lives. Mind boggling. This video was only a snippet so I'm not really sure what the subject matter or the angle that the documentary is taking. I think it's doing,in part what people have been trying to do for the last seventy years - analyse Hitler.
