Cool sister. Merry Christmas...if I had a few extra bucks I'd send it so you could get your computer fixed...I'm sure those random letter outbursts are annoying!

OK hands up. Who got ever so slightly p****d yesterday ?
Didn't do anything to be ashamed of but had to be woken up during the Queen's speech as my snoring was getting a bit loud.
Oh well, back to the Rolling Stones greatest hits album.

OK hands up. Who got ever so slightly p****d yesterday ? I was at work until 3pm. but I managed to catch up with the eight guests we had for lunch. Beer, whisky and port in my stocking so I tried the lot. Repeat of the same today. Then back to work tomorrow

Mine was some very fine bottles of Sharps Cornish ales. Abstained from beer today as I'm back at work tonight. Check Tesco for the custard tarts tomorrow - if they're on the shelves you might guess who packed them for your delight ;D

How to write a classic Christmas song (and why it's harder than you think) Can you hear the cash tills jingle? It is that time again, when talent-show contestants make a bid for festive number one. But it is the Christmas classics that keep on giving Read more: www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/music/11294990/How-to-write-a-classic-Christmas-song-and-why-its-harder-than-you-think.htmlSo why have we seen a slump in the release of new Christmas songs? Ian Anderson, the lead singer of Jethro Tull and the writer of 1976’s Ring Out, Solstice Bells, says part of the reason is that writing an original Christmas song is not half as easy as it once was. ‘It’s probably the toughest thing in the world to write if you’re a songwriter,’ he tells me on the phone days before heading off to Australia for his Best of Jethro Tull tour. ‘Writing a song on the subject of Christmas is increasingly difficult with every passing year. You’re going to be revisiting the same notion and in most cases going dangerously into the cheesy, tinselly, predictable side of Christmas.’ Ring Out, Solstice Bells only reached number 28 in the UK charts but it has been a mainstay of Christmas compilation albums and the December airwaves ever since. ‘If you’re doing it on a more evangelical basis, you’re going to turn off a lot of people who don’t want to be preached at,’ Anderson says. ‘If you’re going to do it on a more lovey-dovey, family, “let’s party” kind of thing, well, Slade have been there and done that. It’s a very tough call to write a meaningful Christmas song. If you’re going to talk about the dark side of Christmas and what it means or doesn’t mean to so many people, you’re in dangerous social and political territory and probably unlikely to have any kind of commercial success, even if it is a nice tune. Believe me, it’s a lucky break. And it’s not something you can sit down and write to order. I’m either very lucky or very clever.’ Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull. ..... Believe me, it’s a lucky break. And it’s not something you can sit down and write to order. I’m either very lucky or very clever.’ I was just thinking bout this myself when watching TOTP's2 the other night - how come there has only been about 5 or 6 Christmas songs? Now I know the answer thanks to the Wise Old Flute Player of Wiltshire.

On behalf of the Forum members and moderators I'd like to thank everybody who has made this site such an interesting place to be involved in during 2014.
Special thanks must go to Jim for his "Scenic Tour" duty visiting almost all of the venues that Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson, Martin Barre and others have visited, to JohnN "Tootull" for not only finding many hard to find references on the web concerning the band and his hard work on the reissues we've had recently, to Remy for finding Tull items such as concert videos and RoIO covers and everybody else, and I mean everybody, who has made such valuable contributions to the Forum during the year.
Finally thanks must go to Bernie, Patti and John "Bunkerfan" for their help in running the Forum and for their assistance and contributions during the year.
Roll on 2015 which incidentally is the Forums 9th anniversary year. Colin Hills, the original founder of the site, started the JT Forum in March 2006 and but for him we wouldn't be here. Thanks Colin.
