A Passion Play would be the only one I would consider buying. I haven't splashed out on Thick as a Brick yet and I'm still not sure I want another copy. I was pleased with Aqualung 40th anniversary but there again it was only £8.99. Is it just me that thinks it's a bit pointless to keep producing the same albums over again saying it's a 'Remix' or 'Remasted.

Well, there could always be "Deluxe Bouree" but that is my American sarcasm coming forth.
I like the "albums" as they are so unless additional material is added or original songs significantly reworked, I do not think anything really requires the effort. '
But hey, something is better than nothing I guess.

Yup...those two...anything extra that we don't already have from APP sessions and other deluxification would be promptly gobbled...and same goes for under Wraps...I bet there is a gold mine of some finished, half-finished and alternate take tracks gathering dust from those sessions...and i bet a lot ot them are quite good....throw in Walk Into Light outakes/extras as well and make it a combined release of that very deliniated era.

MITG would be cool...especially if they unearthed works in progress...Ian said that Requiem started as a very, very long song,( probably including 'Summer day Sands') and according to Doane...Budapest was much, much longer at some point in it's gestation....that would be nice to hear. as well.

The longer version exists on the internet albeit in a poor version due to tape stretch and water damage. The longer version in pristine condition does exist and is in the safe hands of a couple of collectors but due to a strict embargo and a "not for trade" condition it is not widely circulated. I've heard it and it is magnificent.

Which long version? Requiem or Budapest? I'm guessing Budapest because there are all kinds of Crest Outakes floating around.

There was also a rather fine instrumental which I have never heard since and the title of which is unknown to me. I'd surmise it was some sort of musical jam session/acoustic noodling and in style it probably came from the Crest sessions.

As interesting as the COAK outtakes are, I'd be more intetersted in the surely impossible hope of hearing what Ian was up to with Requiem....surely a masterpiece in the 'love song' category. It seems much of MITG is very personal...and reflects the courtship and falling in love stages of the relationship that has lasted over 30 years...

If it exists on tape, and a copy maybe spirited out of the studio, it will surely exist in the library of a dedicated fan and filled under "not for trade" label. Hell, in the past I've had a couple of items filed under that particular tab and in pre internet days jealously guarded them with my life but since the early days of the web events have passed me by and these things are out there with the best of them. I'm sure that such goodies as you mention will surface one day, hopefully in an acceptable form and not burdened by tape hiss, the sound of bacon being fried etc etc. However I would personally guess that the headmaster and all those at Tull Towers have the security of all that stuff under lock and key with any number of evil looking rottweilers guarding it all.

Got me thinking about all the Tull items now out there in cyber space - dvds of concerts, torrents and downloads of alternate takes and very early concerts (amongst many others) and the availability to find merchandise and records/cds from all corners of the world via ebay and popsike. Have a look at www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=jethro+tull&x=28&y=14 and marvel. Currently 7588 items for Tull. Wish oh wish I was a millionaire

I'll buy the APP one, then I'm getting off the deluxe train. There just isn't enough extra decent material after that album to warrant crazy double or triple CDs at inflated prices, or I already have the extra songs on some other damn 20 or 25 year extravaganza. It just gets silly after awhile.
I might consider buying a remastered Living in the Past because the songs sound out of context to me on other deluxe albums.
