Can you remember the first records you ever bought? No cheating. The first one I bought was Diana by Paul Anka in 1957 The second one and the better of the two IMO, Oh Boy by The Crickets Yes both 78rpm.

Absolutely. A 7 year old boy strolls home in April 64 with a 45 of Twist and Shout. That boys Father decides shake it up baby is not a good fit for me and takes it away. First album was the next year, Something New by the Beatles, one of those chopped up Capitol albums for the American market with bits of Beatles For Sale and other on it. I had a picture of myself with my hard won Beatle bangs with said procurement for years, taken in one of those one dollar photo booths, must have been flush with cash from a birthday and/or paper routes.

"Running Bear" by Johnny Preston "Charlie Brown" by The Coasters "Dream Lover" by Bobby Darin First album was either "The Chirping Crickets" or "Elvis' Golden Records" In any case, I used to buy at least one vinyl single a week, sometimes two, with my meagre earnings from a paper round and washing peoples cars etc. When I started work in 1966 the buying spree increased.

Running Bear reminds me of a coffee bar me and my mates used to go to. This was one of the records on the jukebox....Happy days!

First rock and roll bouight with hard begged Mommy and Daddy money: Monkees first album soon follwoed by local radio station compilations that included: Associations (Windy) Buckinhams ( there's a kind of hush), Yardbirds (ha ha laughed the clown) and a healthy dose of nascent hippie music: Incense and peppermints and "i just checked in to see what condition my condition is in' by Kenny Rogers and the first edition ( he was a hippie before an urban country rocker). Soon after I got 'revolver' and latter day Monkees albums and singles as they became available.
The first time I went into a record store as a big boy with my own hard-earned money I walked out with Led Zepplin 2, John Wesley harding (Dylan)
and CSN...TAAB came mere months later.
