He knows I would be with him if he wanted, and I know I've been more into this than he has been, so I guess it's the oldest story in the book. I don't like change, but what are you going to do? I won't wait, because for one thing I presume that if he wins (which I'm sure he will, he's very popular) the "break" will continue. But if he comes around later and my plate isn't full, I don't see the sense in turning him away. There is a lot of sense in turning him away. He treated you shabbily, does not deserve to be with you and if you are waiting there with your tongue hanging out when it suits him to come back, you will be asking for trouble, no matter even if your plate is "empty" at the time (which I am sure it will not be). Got 2 tickets for the Mick Taylor/Hamsters show in Tunbridge Wells, front row in the Circle, dead centre, luverleeee. So I get a call from the theatre that the 2 tickets I had were invalid because somebody had decided the standing area and tiered stalls tickets had to be sold first BEFORE they decided whether the circle was to be opened up for tickets. It's all got something to do with they don't want empty spaces near the stage. For christs' sake, who do they think Mick Taylor is? He's not some amateur beginner, he's the best musician the Rolling Stones ever had. Do they honestly think there's a chance of "gaps" in the crowd near the stage. And The Hamsters - they're just about the best live rock act currently on the go in the UK. Anyway, they sent me 2 replacement tickets in the tiered stalls section, nowhere near the front row, grrrrrrrrrrr. The best they could offer me was I could have my original tickets IF the powers that be decide to open the circle. There you go, rant over. To anybody who's thinking of coming to the UK for a visit - go see The Hamsters, check out www.thehamsters.co.uk. You will not be disappointed.

It doesn't really tick me off, but it certainly doesn't "make my week", either.
This is the last day my youngest will be staying in our house before she and I take her away to east Canada for college. At the end of the month, I get to do it again with my eldest...who I will be taking to Wales.
I know I've mentioned it before.
But today is the day the bricks fell.
I am not having a good day. If any of you can spare a thought: worldly wise, empathetic, just plain silly....I'm sure anything at all would help.
I am going to spend the day doing my best to put on my game face. But I can be a bit of a sap. I don't think either of them need that right now....

Just make sure they do their own cleaning, washing and provide their own food when they're back home on vacation

Hey Blue, I don't think I have any words of wisdom, but I know where you're coming from. I have been there myself. Empty nest doesn't begin to cover it. We really burned up the phone lines, and if you don't have it now, I recommend Skype on the computer. What a wonder! Hang in there...you're not along

I said recently to Junior quoting the words and wisdom of Marge Simpson (on speaking to Maggie) " I'm not letting this one go!!" You should have seen the frozen look of horror/fear on his face as he said sarcastically.. "Yeah Right!" It is one of the hardest parts of parenting probably up there on the top 3. When I took my eldest down to University about 10 years ago I was crying on the way down with him and then switched on the radio and the first song was Chris Rea singing "this is the road to hell" I kid you not. ;D As Sal says probably the only practical advice just now is daily phone contact. It takes a while. It's alright saying things like "this is your time now" etc etc but it took me ages to get over the fact that they were on a new part of their lives. But as you know they're a lot of fun too when they become adults and with mine I had the fun of hearing a recap of my parenting skills when they were old enough and brave enough to tell me ;D ;D Oh Joy Steel /Rayman and everyone else here with kids - YOU have all this to look forward too ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hey thanks, guys. I appreciate the comments. They did help a lot. This is the big night where she stays in her dorm with her new roomies. I have a few more days, then I head home. We've had a great time, and she's in one of the beautiful spots of the world.

Hope your tooth has calmed down, NR. Oldest kid and I are off to Wales tomorrow to get her settled into Cardiff. I am beat! Was home a week. Spent the whole time shopping or packing. No doubt we will conk out soon as we get on the plane. I picked the absolute worst time to become a vegetarian! How can I be a veghead in the UK?? Not exactly a "what ticked me off" moment. Just an update...

Will you be touring? Hope you're feeling much, much better, NR. The trip to drop off my youngest in Canada went great. The trip to Wales with my eldest was a bit of a nightmare capped off by my wrecking a rental car! But it wasn't Wales' fault. It was beautiful and the people were very sweet to us. Trying to get her established at Cardiff Uni was just one red tape fiasco after another. We barely got anything done. Right after I left she found out her bed was infested with bedbugs - she has bites all over her legs and arms. They had to relocate her so that they could fumigate and almost rebuild her bed area, plus replace her carpets. The girl next to her had an infestation, too She has been in an interim room for almost two weeks, and now has the flu. Sigh.... But she's a tough kid. This will all pass and she'll do great. The best part is that she loves her professors and classes. That's the important thing.

Big rain strm in central California yesterday. While greatly needed, I don't think we need a month's worth of rain in one day!!!! And....I had...water running down the wall (sung to the tune of "Aqualung" ) LOL

Me too...my girl tells me it's raining in her play room...sure enough, A steady dripping from what looks like an inflated condom about to burst on the ceiling...so we evacuated toys and popped it over a garbage bin...no harm done and now our roof features a very tacky piece of tarp.

ok global warming may or may not be true depending on what expert you believe BUT it's not the likelihood of global warming we humans should be worrying about it's the other more obvious phenomenon affecting us all - Time Speed! and don't let anyone tell you it's middle age or old age catching up with you - it's happening to everyone! No one can believe how fast one year is flying in. I mean in Tulland we have St Brides coming up again and I'm pi**ed off that I'm not getting this year - again and Mr Anderson - I haven't received my tickets for Prague yet

Serious stuff this........I thought we'd left the dark ages behind, well, the bloody authorities in China haven't. That poor guy Akmal Shaikh is the latest victim of Chinas' barbaric system of justice. The guy was mentally ill - if you were promised a career as a pop singer if you transported a package containing you knew not what to China from Poland - you'd think something wasn't quite right. Well he did just that, the package contained 4 and a bit pounds of heroin, so I suppose from that point, he was doomed. At his "trial", there were serious issues with the translation and then to be told by your relatives you'll be executed the next day is just plain f-----g cowardice by the Chinese authorities. I'm not very religious but if there is a god or some sort of head man/woman who controls things, then where were they in all of this?
Suddenly I'm very glad I live where I do live, with all the crap weather, warm beer and greedy bankers.
Just realised, if I'd been in China and written this, I'd be right in the $h1t.

Are you in a union? if so contact your welfare officer or branch secretary, they should be able to organise a lawyer. Also check your credit card and insurance cover sometimes legal advice is provided.
