No dress code in the big churches ? Should be tuxedo jacket and bow tie to go with the Tull t shirt, jeans and timberland boots at the very least. It's important to keep up standards at these concerts.

From The Sage, Gateshead. .
Dunfermline-born Ian Anderson formed the seminal progressive folk/rock group Jethro Tull in 1968. They went on to become one of the most successful and enduring acts in British rock history, with landmark albums such as Aqualung, Thick As A Brick and Too Old To Rock ‘n’ Roll, Too Young To Die.
Ian Anderson solo shows are well known as a musical journey through the man’s career with many surprises and the great musicianship his fans have grown to expect. Ian and his band perform on a regular basis in British Cathedrals and he is bringing his Christmas show to St. Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Please note this event is being sold on behalf of St. Nicholas Cathedral, Newcastle upon Tyne.
This concert will take place at:
The Cathedral Church of St. Nicholas St. Nicholas Churchyard, Newcastle upon Tyne. NE1 1PF

Interestingly Maddy Prior is appearing at The Sage on the same night that Ian's at St. Nicks. I wonder if they'll meet up for a drink and a curry later. Carols and Capers 2012: Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band Friday 14th December

A walk through the crypt reveals the old Saxon walls. This crypt was in fact only revealed after the church took a direct hit on that fateful night of 29th December 1940 and was severely damaged. It has long had a link with the journalists of Fleet Street, and is indeed often referred to as the Journalists’ Church. So much so that the repair and restoration after the Blitz was paid for by the neighbouring newspaper proprietors. Now you’ll even find the editor’s designated seats in the choir stalls: seeing these seats filled would be a most unlikely sight!

Never a dull moment in Tullland ...just announced that Marc Almond of Soft Cell will be at the Christmas show at St Brides He says in the interview that he'd like to sing with Cliff Richard but didn't mention Ian.... maybe all three next Xmas? www.marcalmond.co.uk/index.html

It could be mists of time, drug excess and just plain dementia...but didn't Ian specifically slag Mark Almond or at least the un-named at the time singer of Soft Cell? Somewhere in the mid or late eighties I think he really singled out that band for a thrashing...along the lines of ' ugh....too awful to believe' kind of thing.

Yes I do believe you're correct although I can't recall where or exactly when it occured. It'll be an amusing conversation back stage I think

With very small congregations in most of our Churches it's good to know Ian can fill one in just two days.

Not a bad song Graham, have not heard it since some time in the 70's. Venture's a little too close to Dust in the Wind or Still You Turn Me On territory, however Ian's contribution is borderline magical. Can do without in most, but not full part, those gizmotron keyboards.
