I gotta say, Brick 2 is pretty nearly perfect. The lyrics are so concise and cover so much ground. Many here have not liked the spoken word elements but I think they add another very nice dimension to the work as a whole. Wonderful structure, beautiful melodies and mix of electric and acoustic/ quiet and powerful moments. The Voice is excellent, warm, full of variety of expression. No one to this day could sing it like Ian. That said, a quarter star off for the voice which is lacking in only a very few places.

I had to give TAAB 2 a fairly lengthy rest after treating it like I was a 6 year old with a new Xmas present for the first few weeks...listening to it now I'm still impressed and, like all classic Tull, always hearing new things or connecting musical dots that were over my head the first few million times....this is some good stuff...I hope I get the pleasure of hearing every last note when i see them in October and I'm quite certain there is more to come from Ian....this high quality or beyond.

I read a comment that TAAB2 didn't grab them the same way that all the others did. Can we really expect to be "grabbed" in the same way as a young dude back in the 60's or 70's. I mean we are older, grumpier, cynical and nostalgic now.
That article that said that music nowadays lacks originality and is not so much about creativity more about dancing and relaxation (and massive profit making) rings true Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see the likes of the 60's/70's music raw genius again.
