Martin Barre's 'New Day' play an excerpt from Jethro Tull's 'A Passion Play' featuring Martin Barre and Pat O'May guitar, Geoff Dunn drums, Jonathan Noyce bass, Frank Mead sax and John Mitchell, who sang the song. From the recent mini tour in 2012...........Enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAjCXpOQX5gA maddogfagin/bunkerfan Production

I don't think Ian or Martin have been done any favors by the You Tube videos because of the sound, but of course I want to see them all! Would certainly have posted this if I saw it first. Not terrible sound here. Certainly if I was in the room I would probably have wanted to have a jig and a brisk walk at some point, I would have been pretty happy. I kind of hope the guys in the two bands don't see them though, not until there is something relatively professional to compare it against, surely I can tell from the downloaded shows that Ians band sounds ALOT better there than on anything yet on You Tube. Certainly you need to turn the bass up if you can on any I have seen. If Martin gets that thing to America, I will bet at least an even chance though maybe not all of America I'm afraid, especially if Doane comes on board I bet that is one fun, and likely thrilling evening.

I WANNA see Martin in a trio with Pegg and Mattacks, at turns a sort of Jethport Tullvention power trio, maybe with Maart on angry mando. I know those guys are pretty busy though, but I bet it would have some appeal to all of them. Maybe with Simon Nicol as surprise guest vocalist, it would likely be highly amusing and maybe much more, to see him tackle say...Cross Eyed Mary. May not sound like a good nights fun to him but...ye never know. I will bet if he cared to, Simon could do a hysterical Ian impersonation.

I think the line up above...plus or minus another Fairporter or two, would be far more interesting, organic and musical than the current MB band. They could do Fairport and Tull songs and they wouldn't sound like a striving cover band.

I've not seen it however I think these suggestions are maybe what it needs. A sort of transition from the personality and history of Martin and Ian together.

Still Bernie, I bet if this very unit came to the Starry Plough, or Full Moon Saloon, (guessing that Haight St establishment to still be running)we would have a great time. Plus that band would have had a year to turn into a band. Get Doane and Pegg or Noyce and alot of the battle would be won. But I understand those guys might get kind of busy and might not have a year or two to be on Martin patrol, not sure. For all I know that drummer is just as good, kind of hard to tell, I sure doubt it though. And of course being able to reconvene that band with the Wisconsin guy would be advisable too, but way easier said than done I am sure, Willy Porter, thats his name, not bad at all. But I have a feeling he knows what he's doing a little bit better than me. BUT! While I'm at it why don't I tell Barrie what to do with his life. Forget that recording studio for a month or two, how many chances are you gonna get to go lay it down with your old buddy? For all I know they have not spoken in years but I would bet they are still pretty close. Yes. I would like to hear that, somebody would tape it no doubt, won't even dream of such a thing coming to the USA.

The Barre-Pegg cored Tullport Convention would be perfect...a really good idea....any added alum would be a bonus....

He's got that annoying Fairport Convention thing though. And usually another pie or two does Peggy, I know one guy who's name escapes me he has played with alot in recent years, did a record, did Jack Frost on it I think, recent, not that Cocktail Cowboy monstrosity...well, mostly anyway. For all I know this one was a monstrosity too but alot of folks on Talk Awhile seemed to like the show. Some Peggy 65th in Birmingham being put together now btw. Jeez I hope Martin is not too shy to ask or something like that. Maybe he needs me for that kind of thing. Fairports By Popular Request coming out tomorrow, in a sense their TAAB 2, revisiting fan favorites in this case, I fully expect it to be the most enjoyable FC studio release since Gladys Leap or Expletive Delighted, Red and Gold not too bad either. More recent years, the last twenty, I think more often a case of some very good tracks on uneven wholes.

PJ someone....and he does that Dylan project thing and still plays with his French buddy,Abraz or something who I saw the one Croperdy I attended, 1998, I think and the guy was straight out amazing...far more impressive than P. O'May....Pegg and his new young girlfriend run a B and B in Brittany....a couple days there would be fun...and tough on the liver!

Right PJ thats the guy. OMG Bernie, I am very very tempted to somehow make myself wealthy just to visit Peggy, bringing you and Patti of course. I did not know that. Some things are close to too much fun as a notion. O you must mean Dan Ar Braz, who is Breton, I think he lives there, Brittany, marvelous player, very briefly in Fairport, like maybe more briefly than anybody, I think but am not sure well less than a year. They probably grow some monstrous shrooms on Brittany and maybe Dave knows just where to find them. That is what this life needs, an expansive shroom session with Peggy, Bernie and Patti, maybe some good port too. I will even ask him to play his mando. And it has to be on days when we have the Pegg machine all to ourselves, don't want to have to share him with any overt folkies. Need a cat head emoticon UP in here. Only kidding, any friend of Pegg's likely is well worthwhile. PJ Wright, 99 per cent sure that's the guy, pretty sure I'm not confusing the name with some interstate offramp eatery. I should have heard him by now but it gets damn crowded in my musical space, hardly all Tull, probably have not heard TAAB2 live or off the cd in at least ten days.

The programme I use to put the slideshow and music together unfortunately doesn't have a facility to change any of the levels (apart from volume) and I don't have any equipment for sound mixing so, I'm afraid, no can do. Sorry!
