I love "Kismet in Suburbia" - My favourite, for now! An Ian Anderson classic song, along with Wootton Bassett and Change Of Horses. All three deserve to be regulars in the live shows for many years to come.

I agree with the above trio and add Pebbles, Banker and Old School Song as drenched in Tull DNA. I continue to listen straight thru, start again and by the end remain impressed how it all hangs together and makes sense. This is as good as anything Ian Anderson has ever written and released...no reason the think there isn't more to come of this quality...especially if the feedback on this one is as a good as i think it is. Ian bets, Ian wins ? One can only hope...

Please, at this time (any day now) revisit TAAB1. Form an opinion and then share it. I did, and... I repeat. The original Brick is untouchable. We're talking finest hour here. TAAB2 is interesting enough, entertaining at times, but it is never on the same level. The glory road leads right back to the '70's.
I love "Kismet in Suburbia" a lot. Leads me back to the beautiful SLOB, more than the Brick.
Tell the boys from that CNN, the good cops have come to town.

This is the prime. Top choice for me. The all time winner on TAAB2 is "Kismet in Suburbia".
Tracks: Beginning nod to TAAB1 5. "Banker Bets, Banker Wins" 4:28 7. "Adrift and Dumfounded" 4:25 8. "Old School Song" 3:07 9. "Wootton Bassett Town" 3:44 10. "Power and Spirit" 1:59 11. "Give Till It Hurts" 1:12 14. "A Change of Horses" 8:04 16. "Kismet in Suburbia" 4:17 (best) Ending nod to TAAB1 & 2

Even though I know three years from now I will unequivocally be able to say Horses is the crown jewel from this collection, far too early in its consumption for me to mark a single piece as standing out, quality and imagination head to toe. Btw just got mine, (about bloody time) and as nice as my little computer speakers with sub woofer are, the definition is an eye opener thru the higher capabilities of my 31 year old, yet still highly efficient system. A little baffled by the assumption of several here and elsewhere of marking the first two tracks among the weakest. But not nearly so baffled as I am by how easily much of TULLDOM writes off Dot Com, the Ian Orchestral record, or much of Rupi's Dance. (I won't have to guess that none of these recordings were given the same impassioned listens, at least 5, that say...Passion Play was given)To me this recording is further evidence of the most consistent quality, if not the highest peaks, of Ian Anderson's recording career to have been since Roots To Branches, a record that truly stands with Tull's very best. But there again I am someone who finds more than palatable Hot Mango Flush, and every last one of his flutey things, be it Boris Dancing or Eurology or every track off Divinites save one. My wonder at their lack of appeal is quickly curtailed when I see the other musical interests of many who find fault with IA's directions as I really don't believe alot of these people have a musical yardstick that extends much beyond prog or heavy metal. And I will say that had Ian ever taken the advice of anyone save his own muse they would have been an ex Tull around 72, and probably be remembered a little more kindly historically, though the past 25 years have not been too bad, seems most reviews I have seen since Roots has been good to excellent, not the perception back in the 70's of Passion Play thru Stormwatch, all of whom received their share of poor reviews. But as to which is the best, well, that forever is likely to be Thick as a Brick.

In some quarters there seemed to be a general annimosity to Dot.com which it did not deserve. Maybe it was again down to some people wanting the Tull sound to be the same as it was in '77 without appreciating that quality artists need to explore new ideas and technologies and not be tied to just regurgitating the previous album all the time.
