I've seen talk of a new double CD coming from Martin Barre. In the fall? The new tour looks interesting and I want to hear how that goes. Hope it gets to Calgary. It will probably be a highly dynamic and well developed full band effort. Maybe the CD can include better moments from the live tour? "We used to know" how that sort of thing sounded. I feel sorry for the current IA band lineup, still in the same ancient "best of" rut that's been going on for 20 years. Martin should be SO sure now that he is doing the better thing by pursuing other projects!!!

Yeah I bet they feel pretty sorry for themselves, you're right, must have something to do with why they only hang around for ten years or so sometimes. Dat Anduhson guys drivin me nuts! Buy hey bro, chin up. I see of the twenty reviews on Amazon thus far, 2 are full blown negative. Curiously one is from a gentleman in Alberta, the other who posits that the presence of Martin Barre could have changed a zero star effort to five star. Sure, makes sense in the light of day to me. The rest range from best effort in 30 years, which out of respect to so much fine material in that period is a claim I will not make for at least 3 years, to borderline hysteria. Past his sell by date.

The current version of Tull is mechanical and TAAB2 is very "contractual obligation album"-sounding. I don't expect this website to be much more than a mindless rally of 5-star reviews for everything Ian Anderson might do, so enjoy yourself, Tulllist, give TAAB2 5 or 10 or 312 stars, that's what's expected.
Meanwhile, real music making is going on elsewhere by real music makers.

I love rational debate but your comments about real music being made by real music makers is in my view jawdropping. This is real music written by one of the most original and talanted musicians ever and I must say played by a bunch of talented musicians as well. There are Tull albums I'm not that keen on plus I can take or leave some of IA's solo stuff. I can only comment for myself as a life long fan and I happen to think that TAAB2 or more accurately ' What happened to Gerald Bostock' is a fine fine album. Patronise me if you wish but please respect other peoples views and comments. I miss Martin and Doane ( probably seen them together over 70 odd times) and I will be going to see The MB Band this year and I do hope Tull get back together but for here and or now lets just appreciate what we have and what we have to look forward to. I think I have posted this in the wrong thread !! Oneadrift(anddumbfoundedduck)

futureshock wrote...."......TAAB2 is very "contractual obligation album"-sounding. I don't expect this website to be much more than a mindless rally of 5-star reviews for everything Ian Anderson might do...." There is some truth in that comment for me...especially the TAAB2 part.
Most blog contributions are written by 'fans'; many extreme w/o the want to constructively criticize. That's true of reviews on amazon as well. To be fair, that's also true of camera 'brand' websites and many other 'product'. It's also why I can't really take early reviews that gush over and over or extremely negative in the beginning seriously.
I've said that IA has stated he has more interest in less than favorable comments and reviews and I'm sure that's also true for MB. I hope to see him on tour, but really I won't go into an MB tour with anything other than curiosity - I have enjoyed his solo efforts, the last being the most 'polished'. He has said that they are kind of a hobby for him, and that's fine, and I'll more than likely purchase his next effort - assuming that it's better than his last. I don't know how he can make any profit from a big tour - it's just really hard to do.
