Welcome back....you were missed. Let me bring you songs from the wood: to make you feel much better... This is the first Jethro Tull tune I heard... I still remember it vividly... The start... a choir?? What... is this??? Hmm... Strange...but... 0:32... and now a flute?? 1:38... lots of Instruments?? That's nice... It's getting very intense... Very, very impressive... Hmm... Damn it's good!!! at 1:52... It's exploding!!! I love it!!! It's incredible!!! It's like a storm!!! I've never heard anything like it!!! 2:12... a break?? Fantastic!!! 2:33... Incredible!!! Electric guitar... What is this??? 2:52... The choir is back??? Great!!! 2:59... The flute is back... It's indescribable... 3:35... another break?? 3:48... Now they are back to the beginning... 4:21... The flute again!!! Damn it's good!!! The end at 4:49... What did just happen??? And that was my first encounter with Jethro Tull...

Velvet Green was the song that initially did it for me as a 12 year old urchin just discovering music, closely followed by Hunting Girl..
Then Acres Wild the following year formed the trilogy that was hard to top then, and to this day if I'm honest - although Stormwatch as a whole comes close!
It's a mood thing...

Google Translate Jethro Tull: Songs From The Wood (The Country Set) Quality is in it Where Steven Wilson stands, quality is in it. For several years, the British musician has also worked successfully as a sound engineer and producer for bands like Yes, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Chicago and, of course, Jethro Tull. They have also engaged Wilson 2017 for the jubilee edition of their legendary »Songs From The Wood«. The result is impressive and more than extensive.

Exciting...and nice to read shared awe of Velvet Green/Acres Wild peak. Too bad quartets didn't include Acres Wild.

But the burning question: Does live CD include lengthy joke about what Ian saw under Barrie's kilt ?

It is on the DVD at 54:40, not on the CD it seems they cut the Barrie bit and it goes to the intro David Palmer as the gardener then goes straight into Velvet Green

Jeez ... for the past 2 months I've been assuming the title was Old Acres Die Hard, after the initial typo somewhere or other ...
Couldn't figure out what Lemmy had to do with acres of any kind. Mystery solved.
So here's another mystery: the original album credit to "Wood-cutter: Keith Howard" -- what does this refer to? I mean, it's IA on the cover, isn't it? So who's this guy Keith and what exactly did he cut?
Never figured this out.

A Could it be the guy who made the record deck on the tree or was that fake.............Tull have used some very skilled people in the past, like the guy who did the "Stand Up" album.......amazing. Love Songs from the Wood anyhow......

I would also assume that the photoshoot took place in the woods near to Pophleys.

Good old Burning Shed kept their end of the bargain and this edition of SFTW arrived today.
Of the new audio items "Old Aces Die Hard" is a right belter (as my Dad used to say), "Working John . . ." is a slightly inferior version of the song that appeared on "A" and one wonders why both songs never appeared earlier, and "Magic Bells"is in all honesty never going to be any better than the original released version - at least to my ears.

Got mine too from Amazon. But I've had to wait all day for my Daughter to let me open it as it is a belated Birthday present. I was going to skip 'Ring out Solstice Bells' put pleased I didn't I'll go through the rest tomorrow and I'm really looking forward to watching the DVD

Waiting by mailbox, nothing yet...maybe the new song shows up on You Tube? When I bought MITG and TOTRAR big versions, I got streaming version free....SFTW seems to not have that option. It's not even for sale via MP3 as far as I can tell.

I met him at the HE concert launch and he's not only an interesting chap but a very fine guitarist in his own right with King Crimson.
