Does anyone know about these ? I've never seen a genuine one "in the flesh" but from what I can gather the originals have been heavily bootlegged in the past. Tull were featured on one of the discs dated 9/9/1984 recorded at the Hammersmith Odeon. All I know at the present is that 1) originals have green & white labels 2) bootlegs have black & white labels and 3) it is illegal, for copyright reasons, to trade BBC transcription records. There was an article about them in Record Collector some time back but I can't find my copy so I can't refer to it.

No, never seen one either. They did feature in the recent record Collector top Tull rarities article so I guess they are pretty hard to come by. Maybe one day the BBC will start putting some of what must be a real treasure trove of their archives out on CD. If so we should lobby them for a Tull set of BBC archives.

The reason I posted this was because there were a couple of these vinyl lp's on ebay over the last few months which were going for a lot of money but looked from the "blurred" photos as if they could have been pirated copies. It's a case of buyer beware I suppose. I have one pirate/bootleg copy which didn't cost me a great amount but that I knew was a bootleg when I purchased it. The Electrocutas site has photos of both the genuine and bootleg copies so it's worth a look there just to check out the validity of them if in doubt.

I stand to be corrected but this seems to be an example of a genuine BBC disc and this is an example of a bootleg/counterfeit The genuine one has the green logo and horizontal strip whilst the counterfeit logo is black with no horizontal stripe. Although the style of the label varies over the years I think that the few that Tull were featured on only had this style. If any forum members can verify the above for me I'd be grateful.

They have been on more then that I have atleast 4 unfortunatley my lps are pack away right now, also Westwood one did about 3 shows and then a ton of shows came out on cd , I will keep you posted as I go through all my stuff These vinyl radio shows from both sides of the Atlantic are quite difficult to get hold of these days and are, as you'd expect, quite valuable. The ones I have are The Source - NBC: The Jethro Tull Special, b'cast dates July23, 24, 25, 1982. 3 LP set. Jim Ladd hosts Innerview, series #21, show #10. 1981. 13 Musical Biographies with Alison Steele: date unknown. plus a counterfeit copy of the BBC transcription disc of Hammersmith 1984 which I've seen on some trading sites being passed off as the real thing. I bought them over the years at fairs, conventions and shops for a few £'s but what they're worth now I've no idea
