Never heard of the Nutz...now glad i have....Never got into Foreigner but know for sure that Ian likes them a lot....Heard a heavy rock song on the hard rock station on the way home from work today...sounded a lot like 'Spirit'...but it was a huge, long epic track...and I would have known it if it was Spirit...wondered who it was...and who was ripping off Spirit licks and singing style and...lo and f**kin' behold...it was Ted Nugent....who I despise on principal and based on what I've heard...but this song....something like Stranglehold or similar name...was really good....aaaaah!

What about Ann Wilson, Tina Turner and Grace Slick to mention alongside the males like Burton Cummings, Stevie Wonder, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Jon Anderson, James Dewar. Also, I always wondered what Tom Jones would have sounded like if he'd been born 15 years later and taken up rock instead of early Brit pop.

What did Uriah Heep and/or their fans do to deserve me singing? My daughter strictly forbids me to sing anytime, anywhere for any reason...puts her fingers in her ears, screams bloody murder and/or feigns barfing...this is the same little girl who only a few short years ago thought i could do no wrong....

How about James Dewar, pretty fair bass player as well? Is there something in the water in Scotland that produces gravelly voiced vocalists - Alex Harvey/Jack Bruce et al?

My friends would suggest that I am categorically unfit to offer a response as most of my time is spent listening to Garcia, Dylan, Biafra, Rotten, the Kirkwood Bros. (Puppets!), Black (of the Francis variety), Young (Neil), Gilmour/Waters, and Stipe (the last 3 are a curiosity to me; how can anyone say RogDa and Michael can't sing?!)...though, in my defense, I also love the dulcimer crooning of Morrisey and the bluesy powerhouse vocals of Plant, Morrison, and (never forget) Sandman.
(the muzak during a transmission interruption at :44 is a freebie )
(just how the bleep did history forget Morphine?! )

Hi Kate and welcome to the JT Forum. Best voices in rock ? For me it has to be (after IA at his peak vocal wise with APP, SFTW, HH et al) the wonderful talent that was Arthur Lee of Love. Not everybody's cup of tea I realise, but certainly a favourite of mine. As for lady singers, it has to be Judie Tzuke, Sandy Denny and Maddy Prior.
