Long Beach for me. I haven't been back to that theatre since the horror of taking my son to see some awful Elmo thingy 4 years ago, the trauma is still fresh. ;D ;D Steel will commiserate with you he had to sit through The Wiggles and I can't stop myself ............. A few years ago I had to sit and watch that bloody purple dinosaur all the time on the TV. Please tell me he's now in rehab and refusing to ever perform again! Honestly, The Wiggles were infinitely more entertaining than when I had to sit through Sesame Street Live! Now my son is dying to go to a Kiss concert. What a difference a few years makes.

Since Milwaukee is the crap beer capital of the world, it is likely that the venue is the Pabst theater. SF dates, please ( San Francisco, not Santa Fe, San Frenando or Swiss Francs.

Milwaukee, hope so. In fact if there are shows both at the Chicago Theater and Pabst Theater, I will opt for Pabst as it has better sound, both are very impressive buildings architecturally, historically. Pabst mansion in Milwaukee is really something to see too, as is much of its under valued downtown, seems to have been some of the same architects at work in the early 20th century, as were also at work 80 miles to the south in Chicago, Milwaukee really is not a bad place at all/Doubtless there are some decent micro brew joints there, I have been in one I think near the Pabst.

Interview out today www.pollstar.com/blogs/news/archive/2012/03/09/798862.aspxWhen asked if he sees much of the countries he visits; ".... I try to walk the streets and get a flavor of the town. I’m actually more interested in walking around in the areas where people go shopping and live and work. It sometimes tells you more about a city and a culture than visiting a museum, art gallery or cathedral. But most of the times I just like to walk the streets. I’m just like an unpaid hooker. But I don’t get many offers anymore. Sad...."When asked if he's ever recognised in the street; "These days, when I’ve been out and about, I’ve thought someone is coming to ask me for my autograph or I’m getting a particularly friendly reaction from a restaurant owner or somebody in a Starbucks, but it actually turns out they’re not interested in me at all. They’re interested in my son-in-law, Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in “The Walking Dead.” So they tend to recognize him more often. “Oh, it’s him, from the telly!” They don’t always know his name but it’s always “that guy on the television.” I just pretend I’m his agent. Or his older lover..."I think we can all agree that he is still a funny bugger ;D ;D

Hey man, anyone else get their eyebrow seriously raised by that November 4 date? I mean I like Willie Nelson's music just fine, and the man even more. (I mean his cover of Mona Lisa, doubtless amongst many many others, c'mon, that is perfect)But I had to go run and check and no, it is not a duo date. Very pleased to see 4 shows within an accessable distance to me, just like the old days, save for the fact of having little or no money! I know last year I was driving to a Tull or Ian show in Kalamazoo I think, per normal without a ticket, and 40 miles into it I realized, I can't do this, no normal job, spending money that is not really there to be spent and turned around. I will not be weeping if I miss this round, though something always seems to come up for free for me, that guy has filled up so many jugs to overflowing, and all with one eye nearly popping out his head, he had nothing left to prove about 40 years ago. I know when Willie Nelson does share dates with people it is common for him to play with them so this aspect definitely got me maneuvering to that website to check the accuracy. I saw his playing with the Furthur Grateful Dead thing in about 98, and I know he just did a record with Wynton Marsalis. Apparently Miles Davis was a fan too as he has a song titled Willie Nelson, and in his comeback tour in 81 he was sometimes wearing a baseball cap that said Willie Nelson on it. Also one of the world's better marijuana advocate, the most absurd prohibition I am aware of in history. Time to amend that 5 minutes after I wrote it, as a brief check of my countries often chequred past and present, I am reminded of the prohibition of certain of our countryman to use the same facilites and have the same services as the rest of us, something still anything but fully addressed but...u get my point. In fact one of the things that made marijuana as illegal as it was was the perception of those crazy people of color and what they might get up to with our European stock, many of whom I'm sure were understandably quite open to the invitation!

Wow. And if given the right odds, say 6 to 1 I will lay money down that that is also incorrect. Did not look at the ticket prices but if they are anything like 49.50 or something manageable like that, I will take even 3 to 1. In part because I immediately googled it and whatever site I was taken to had the Willie Nelson date in Akron being something like the 24th. Impossible though? Hardly. Having said that I would guess only about a third of each audience are fans of the other performer to any extent. I would imagine the same is true of both performers, doubtlessly aware of each other, would be surprised to hear either is an out and out fan of the other. I suspect Willie has also played with the Cheiftains too. But if this is true, I would give it about a one in three chance of a mutual song or two, I seem to recall the first song Ian ever learned may have been some kind of cowboy tune. Not learned to play, I think it was his first record or something. Plus Willie doubtless knows some blues tunes they could duet on. Far out man. In fact, come to think of it, I think Ian could get his mind around the Nelson version of Mona Lisa, its a lovely song and I am certain Ian could conjure up a flute and/or mando adornment that would be of interest to me. I would post the Willie version but the only one up there has one of those abhorrent America Love It Or Leave It things at its beginning, will not be party to that, a sentiment that I know for a fact has its roots in fascism, not patriotism. And yeah, those morons are in Willie's audience, and given the response to Ian's flag comments in 02 or so, in Tulls as well.

'On the Rocks on the road again?' No? How about 'Red haired Aqualung?' No?
Dylan and Simon together on sounds of silence was pretty impressive in about 1990 or so

Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson coming to Amphitheatre Sept. 21 staugustine.com/entertainment/2012-03-14/jethro-tulls-ian-anderson-coming-amphitheatre-sept-21#.T2Hr2vXy_YgSTEVE SMITH: Classic rock, pop and country www.presstelegram.com/ci_20172369/steve-smith-classic-rock-pop-and-countryTULL'S ANDERSON HONORED Ian Anderson, mastermind since 1967 of England's Jethro Tull, is the recipient of the Germany-based NatureLife-International's 2012 Environmental Award, reports Vintage Vinyl News. He'll receive the award in May. The 64-year-old Anderson has long been an environmental and animal rights supporter, including the protection of endangered species, the fight for threatened areas and the renaturization of habitats. Anderson planted more than 35,000 oak and ash trees in his native Scotland, where for a quarter-century he's owned one of the country's largest salmon farms that employs hundreds (he sold off some of his interests in 2001). He saved large acreage of woodlands by purchasing them and has financially supported numerous conservation and research endeavors and he helps endangered wild cats in zoos and in the wild. On April 2, he'll release a solo album sequel to his band's 1972 epic, "Thick as a Brick." He is spending the year promoting the album with tours of Britain, Europe and the U.S., including on Oct. 20 at the Long Beach Terrace Theatre. These shows will see him perform the original album in its entirety for the first time since its release, along with a good chunk of "Brick 2." In the beginning, long milliseconds ago............................... Don't see what I do not want to see, you don't hear what I don't say. Won't be what I don't want to be, I continue in my way.

www.utsandiego.comJethro Tull's leader to perform original and new "Thick As a Brick" albums live Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson Plays "Thick As A Brick 1&2” When: 8 p.m. Oct. 17th Where: Balboa Theatre, 868 Fourth Avenue, downtown Tickets: $37-$120 (includes $2 facility Fee) Phone: (619) 570-1100 Online: ticketmaster.com Jethro Tull's leader is coming to San Diego to perform one of Jethro Tull's best-known albums, in its entirety, minus Jethro Tull. Last month, you may recall, we informed you that Tull leader Ian Anderson has recorded a sequel to Tull's chart-topping 1972 concept album, "Thick As A Brick," and was mounting an international tour with his non-Tull band to perform both albums live in their entirety. at that time, however, there was no San Diego date on the itinerary. Now comes word that the "Thick As A Brick" tour is indeed headed this way, with an Oct. 17 show confirmed at the Balboa Theatre. The concert will be performed in two halves, the first featuring all the songs from the original "Thick As A Brick" album -- which Anderson has not performed, with or without Tull, in nearly 40 years -- and the second being devoted to the new, 17-song "Thick As A Brick" sequel album. Anderson's band features keyboardist John O’Hara, guitarist Florian Opahle, bassist David Goodier and drummer Scott Hammond. They will be joined by some "guest performers," although which guests are capable of sitting in to play such challenging, decidedly non-jam-oriented music remains a mystery. In a recent interview, Anderson stated that the tour would not feature any non-"Thick As A Brick" material from the Tull catalog and advised fans wanting to hear other Tull songs to skip this tour. Longtime Tull fans may recall that when Anderson performed in 2003 with his non-Tull band at El Cajon's now sadly dormant East County Performing Arts Center, the guest artist was San Diego's Mike Keneally, who rose to fame in the 1980s as the "stunt guitarist' and keyboardist in Frank Zappa's final touring band. Keneally may be one of the few musicians anywhere capable of learning and playing "Thick As A Brick." If Anderson is looking for a guest artist who can really rise to the occasion, Keneally is about as good as they come. As for the new "Thick As A Brick" album, here's what Anderson had to say in a recent press release: “As we baby-boomers look back on our own lives, we must often feel an occasional ‘what-if’ moment. Might we, like Gerald(Bostock, the original album's fictitious protagonist), have become instead preacher, soldier, down-and-out, shopkeeper or finance tycoon? “And those of more tender years -- the social media and internet generation -- may choose to ponder well the myriad of chance possibilities ahead of them at every turn.....”

As I said on the thread for the prog mag I think the both the cover pic and the one of him sitting in the armchair are absolute picture classics in the whole of the history of Tull and fair warmed the cockles of this Tull fans heart. I also think the likeness of Ian sitting in the armchair to the video of his father sitting down in an armchair (after twiddling about with the knobs on the sideboard/stereo is uncanny).... ..... however I do not like the "first" official t -shirt in any shape or form. I think it was a mistake to choose Ian's face as the centrepiece of the t-shirt of this the year of TAAB 1/2. It smacks not of celebration of all that is TAAB and will be but more of; "Hey this is me and I'm still here! " plus whether it was intentional or not it looks like Ariel Spellbinder on tour !!

I'm not keen on them either. They're the Chester Hopkins offerings, I only hope there's going to be some other designs from another company.
