Hello all! I'm curious if any of you experts is aware of a definitive list somewhere that keeps track of the Tull discography and the different versions and mixes floating around out there? I was just about to dump my copy of M.U. as I have all the album reissues... but then I noticed the mixes of "Aqualung" were different... which led me to more web searching and discovering some rumblings of "quad" versions. Some forums and sites saying the M.U. versions are the quad versions, otheres saying they're different mixes altogether. Then some of the other tracks on M.U. may be different mixes... and it's got me wondering just how many versions are out there of all these tunes. And among the conflicting reports, who is the authority? I'm a big Smiths fan, and from the die-hards, a website emerged (passionsjustlikemine.com) that keeps ridiculously detailed records of Smiths releases and reissues in different markets, what versions/mixes/edits exist, etc. I'm hopeful that someone out there in Jethro Tull land has done something similar? I am far from "connected" to the Tull fan community at the moment, so please assume I know little or nothing. Thanks in advance for any guidance you might have! - Benjamin

A full and detailed discography that you mention has been attempted in the past, namely by A New Day magazine, but there are so many slightly different mixes, reissues for different markets, etc., that it's proved somewhat elusive as far as Tull are concerned. I know that The Smiths have a detailed discography as there was an article in Record Collector many months ago but even then there were some contributors with differing ideas. I've attempted it in the past but got as far as Stand Up and realised that any listing would be subject to massive arguements between collectors so it went on the backburner - maybe when I retire I'll have another go. In the meantime, any Tull fan on the Forum compiled a similar discography? Anyway, welcome Benjamin - good to have you here MD

Thank you, MD! Glad to be here, and looking forward to exploring the site more... I found a definitive list of Tull album releases up to 1997, and now more than likely out of date as it will not include the remasters issued in the 21st century, in the far off corners of my PC but it does not include remixes etc. Don't know where I got this from, maybe from the St Cleve Cronicle or similar, and I'd be more than happy to credit the source should anybody know. For example, the This Was entry is as follows: THIS WAS 1968 TRACKS: My Sunday Feeling / Someday The Sun Won't Shine For You / Beggar's Farm / Move On Alone / Serenade To A Cuckoo / Dharma For One / It's Breaking Me Up / Cat's Squirrel / A Song For Jeffrey / Round LP: Reprise 112911, ('??)
