as a life long jethro tull fan and a somewhat seasoned tull concert veteran the show in regina was quite intresting to say the least..i thought that since it was at one of the smallest venues tull has ever played(750 seats) i would get one of the most intimate shows..well was i ever wrong..first off even tho the seating capacity is quite small at casino regina the venue is'nt that small really..second the crowd for the show was quite rowdy..which is great for most rock concerts..but a jethro tull show is not your typical get your ya ya's out concert..in the previous theatre tull shows i've seen as in almost every show they play i'm sure the audience sits rather captively hanging on every note from ian and the boys..from the get go in regina the crowd was letting out hoots and hollers throughout the performance..much to ians dismay i might add..at one point in the acoustic guitar intro to my god ian actually stopped playing..looked out into the audience and asked..and i quote"can you hear my guitar..because i can't"..furthermore somewhere during the set he managed to discreetly inform the band there would be no intermission..my guess is he was thinking if this crowd gets any louder and drunker i'll never get through this..never the less it was another stellar concert by my fave band..getting to all but slipstream off of aqualung..songs from the wood..thick as a bick..living in the past..farm on the freeway..budapest..allthough the highlight for me was a extented version of mother goose..where they would play the verse as usual then go back and martin played the vocal with a lead line..much like jeff beck does in alot of songs..a absolutely stellar version that will stick with me forever..it was kinda sad to see the audience not giving the respect to the softer side of the music and sitting back to really appreciate every subtle note..but that being said there was no malice in it..the people just wanted to rock and have a good time apparently not realizing the unique character of a jethro tull show...would love to here from anyone else at the show in regina and see how they felt about it..and one other audience antic that was quite amusing at one point in another softer moment musically..a obviously drunken voice yells out at the top of his lungs...again i quote"jethro...i love you brother"...which got a aubidle laugh from most everyone including myself..again not appropriate..but at least that one was funny ...i looked all over the internet for another review of this show and could'nt find one in the local paper or anywhere else..i forgot to buy the paper the next day there and it was a road trip so could,nt get one after..but i found nothing online..so would really love to hear from someone else at the show to hear thier take on it..but thats mine ..i was just glad to see jethro tull in another incarnation once again..hopefully not for the last time
