I've been watching lots of peak era Tull lately...all the you tube stuff available, some perfect, some tatty synchronizations of known boots and bits and pieces of super 8 film...you all know the many. many videos I'm talking about, from 72 thru 75...and you know what? Of a sudden....and to my horror...suddenly it hit me.....Jeffrey H H, going back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, on his amplifier cord leash, in and out of the frame, in and out, back on forth...has gotten on my nerves and is starting to reek of anxiety, hyper-activity in an uncomfortable way and general not knowing what to do with himself as he mindfully plucks his parts amongst the more focussed and productive activity of Ian, Martin and even John and Barrie. I mean, yeah, he's into the music and energy...but he's also like a little kid you wanna tell to stay still or get a new move........okay....punish me and set me straight....I deserve it......I love JHH, his role in Tull and everything about him....but the yo yo/ rubber band schtick just went fingernails on the blackboard....

You know there's a certain element of truth in what you say. I must admit it hasn't struck me before but now you mention it yes - you're right.
Was it over anxiety/concentration/over-productive glands or just a plain case of enthusiasm?

I think Jeffrey Hammond-Hammond was trying out an experiment to see if he could hypnotise the audience by dashing about in his black & white stripped suit and guitar. Just a thought

Maybe all the video from that era has so much JHH in and out of frame, cowing out all the shots that both Ian and he feel it's a bit degraded and they fear that release would call attention to his potty dance from start to end of each gig? I mean, how could any shot, from any angle, of any Tull member not be effected by JHH working his turf?

Jeffrey H H was the most active of Tull's bass players, Glenn Cornick was a pretty good mover too and Peggy I think just about got it right with his smoother use of dance moves. Now we have David Goodier who remains almost static on stage.

steelmonkey interesting.
Watching him live, I believe he was attempting to be a blurry zebra. I'm dizzy. Explains Bungle in the Jungle.
