Found an interesting site with quite a detailed account of Martin's early career at www.marmalade-skies.co.uk/pennypeeps.htm which should be of interest to everybody. Has some early group photos and gig adverts etc.

Good overview of his early career I thought and worthy of a posting. If only we had the recordings he made during this time in circulation!

Excellent article and a great find. Nice work. Although the part where it says a mint copy of the Penny Peeps single fetching £35 probably needs revising upwards a wee bit!

I'm interested to know what any of the Penny Peeps singles sound like. Anyone got a copy of either of the two singles they recorded and can give us a review?

Or maybe even get the songs transferred to MP3 and send them to us! Or is that a bit naughty?

Done some research today as it's a day off from work and have found out the following details for those who are interested. The Penny Peeps issued two singles on the Liberty Label which are mentioned in Marmalade Skies article: Little Man With A Stick c/w Model Village I See The Morning c/w Knight Of The Road In 2007 a compilation titled Psychedelic Jumble Vol 1 featured the 3 PP tracks: Meet Me At The Fair Into My Life She Came (with MB on flute) Helen Doesn't Care Also featured on the compilation album Insane Times: 25 British Psychedelic Artyfacts from the EMI vaults is Model Village Finally (for now) if you go to www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxBiWKY2Pkg you'll see a video with Meet Me At The Fair and on that page you'll see the video for Helen Doesn't Care. I'm sure this research is ongoing and Col - your suggestion is naughty and illegal but a great idea!

And as for Psychedelic Jumble. and Insane Times..it seems you can still get them. Like buses - you wait for one and then four come along at the same time. Still it's good to know now that some of MB's early stuff is out there.
