Signed by the band as they were on this tour and, as you will have noticed, the item is held in place by the obligatory Tull mugs. I was going to have this one, and others, framed but . . . . .

A classic "one off" Tull momento, "liberated" from the Oasis Leisure Centre, Swindon in 1992. The Oasis is probably one of the worst venues I've ever seen the band perform in here in the UK - unless anyone knows better ?

Have to agree with you there Mr Dog. I was I must admit I was rather off my face ( to much to smoke/drink ) at the Oasis. Hereford Leisure Centre was pretty crap as well - seen Tull there twice. Newport Centre not much better. Oh well still great memories - I think

I'm just wondering, did Tull play 'Jack in the Green' that night? I think the bowlers might have enjoyed that one ;D

I think I went to Swindon once or was it Basingstoke Dear Basingstoke. The one thing going for it is The Anvil Theatre where JT have played many times. A good venue with a good auditorium, good seats and an excellent stage etc. Similar in fact to Plymouth Pavillions where JT have played in the past.

No - too far away from the "home counties". We were at the Royal Albert Hall concert at the beginning of October '69. Warm beer, cr@p seats, people talking throughout the concert and even more warm beer.

There's a faint memory...Starcastle..a proggie band from St Louis that got a millisecond or two of attention with a Yes-like album that I actually bought...they more or less faltered out of the starting gate...played some 500 seat clubs in the midwest and apparently made it to fourth on the bill at a huge Tull gig.....don't remember anything about a second album or any kind of career beyond that...actually they sounded more like Gentle Giant and Greenslade than Yes...but that's really splitting prog rock influence hairs, no?

Yet another wretched opening act for Tull in 76 was Starcastle. Even Yes as an opener would not have excited me, but I would never question they are awfully good at what they do. With the exception of Wild Turkey, who I might like a lot less now than I did in 72, bought their record which did not work for me, I would need to be reminded of what opening act Tull has had not named Fairport Convention that did not suck, and I mean suck with 5 gold bars, particular gold stars in the suck department for Uriah Heep, It Bites, whoever those soon to be famous guys were in 84, o yeah, Whitesnake, and the vastly over regarded UK . Was not lucky enough to catch either Steeleye Span or Captain Beefheart as openers, and I understand the bulk of Tull's audience, musical morons particularly in their more popular days, booed them. And were probably close to booing Tull when they were not going BOOM. Or the alcohol/football cries of get down! I don't miss it. I will qualify all that with credits to Ian for each of the roughly 5 or 6 people who have done time in the past 6 or so years as special guests, have very much enjoyed all of them.

Interesting piece in this month's Record Collector - in their "most wanted" section there's a poster for This Was valued at £275. Wish I'd got one from the wall of the listening booth in the local record shop at the time. Oh bu99er www.cornick.org/

My begging failed I'm sorry to say.
