Can anyone remember the Interlude films that were used to "fill-in" gaps in the television schedule, either when there was a technical breakdown (valve technology was prone to breakdown frequently), or, in the early days of post-war television, to allow changes between studios. Here's one of them.

Sure can remember them John, especially this one There was also one of a car causing interference to the TV transmission. Laughed a lot at that one - I was only 42 at the time

Politics and patriotism aside here's a wonderful, historic (colour) video of Winston Churchills funeral showing a glimpse of British life and mourners in 1965 and that great tune of I Vow To Thee. Watch out for the man with the hairnet

Watch out for the man with the hairnet yes rabbito this is a bit of tv which marks the end of an era and the end of a great briton (if churchill had not stood up to the bosche i'd have been called von snaffler!) but i temper this with what churchill did in ireland when he introduced the black and tans!!! still the the music is enough for me to forget this for a moment!

RESPECT. Of the deepest order. Particularly to the many people in the crowd old enough to remember the daily diet of horror brought by the Luftwaffe. Always grateful that somehow so many grand buildings, particularly Westminster Abbey, St Marys Cathedral, Tower of London, Houses of Parliament were somehow spared. Though I'm sure not as any result of a directive of Herr Hitler, just must not have been muniton sites or factories nearby of consequence. Deep gratitude always to the Russians, who more than any of us had to deal with that unstoppable beast head on, with virtually no help. I do remember this day but not in color. or colour. Also very deep respect to the Queen Mum, likely not forgotten in the UK, but I know how calming an influence her very definition of stiff upper lip in evil hour was.

O indeed Snaffler and my lowest bows both to your Father and yourself. Its just that in a relative sense vrs other "theaters", that was a burden, and the one that reversed the course of the war, largely born by the Russians, including many millions who were not soldiers at all, all while serving under a monster who exceeded even Hitlers numbers of murders . I know expected USA aid in large part did not come through. If there was a single more hellish winter for any people of this planet than that born by Stalingrad I would have to be reminded of it. So recommend a book from 2 years ago called Bloodlands, to me a must read for pretty much every human being.

I was listening to a discussion on the radio the other day and the subject was 60's TV drama's and The Baron was mentioned. I can't remember this programme at all. Even when I found this theme tune I still don't remember it. Any clues anyone?

Must have been on TV around the time of the World Cup in '66 ?

This one takes me back. I don't know why but when I played this I could taste OXO and cream crackers. It must have been my treat in those days.

I forgot about this thread however looking at the first video about the kitten shows that nothings changed since that there's still short videos all over the place on the internet. In fact Tim Berners Lee is quoted as saying about the internet " I didn't expect all the cats" Rice Krispies and Rolling Stones (early 50's TV ad)
