I was able to spend Father's Day with my family! My son had his first Father's Day with 4 month old Ethan and we were in a beautiful place in the high Sierras, where I used to spend many heavenly summers as a teen ager! It was SWEET!!! )

I have one of these too, so at least there's balance. An old friend is making a short movie for a film fesitval and I'm going to work on it! I'll be on the writing team and do some sound editing afterwards, and who knows what else. I'm excited!

Mine was spent with daughter and granddaughters - the eldest has taken to wanting to know and understand about the family history so I was able to dig out the family photos, some of which my late Father took of me as a kid. She is also starting a "memory box" which she wants to fill with nick nacks of my Dad and her pet rabbits which she had as a 5 year old. Brought back some happy memories

Oh, that reminds me: here's the one he did last year. There are a few things I see that I'd change, but what do you think? www.vimeo.com/1409813

That's nice! It's so suburban America I didn't know how it would "play" over there! Considering it's a 48 hour project (you find out what your genre is Friday night and you have until Sunday night to do the whole thing from idea to finish) it's pretty challenging!

Today's movie making day! Last night we drew the genre, which is horror, which some of you know is exactly what I would have chosen. But seeing as it's Tim's project, it will be comedy-horror. I got 3.5 hours of sleep last night (the good thing about that is I'm always a little more creative when I'm sleepy) and have to drive to another county to do this. What a day this is gonna be!

It was great, thanks Maddog! Spent 14 hours yesterday writing, making notes, running errands, improving lighting, and babysitting (one couple involved had 2 girls, ages 2 and 4, and we took turns playing with them). Even better, as I think I said before, Tim was a friend from college and I hadn't seen him for at least 23 years and I got to meet all his present day good friends and that was a really nice experience.
The screening will be this week and someday soon it'll be on the internet and I'll give you all the link. I hope we win!

The cooling down around her IS nice....my kid and planned to camp near Ukiah last weekend but ended up watching cartoons in an air conditioned motel 6 and swimming in their tacky pool for two days...despite my plan to shove nature down her throat while she still lets me call the shots...even i could see that camping at 105 degrees would be cruel.

But the important thing is, you spent time with your daughter! That's what she'll remember.

What my daughter remebers is every detail about every princess-related piece of plastic available at Toys R Us...thank you cable TV! She also knows the all the words to Pussy Willow and Under Wraps...so how can I not buy her the latest Polly Pocket products?

That is just great, Ray, let me tell you, you are going to love being a dad. I've got two kids, a six year old and 17 month old, both boys, and I'm having a great time with them. I never had any prior experience with babies, not having any nieces or nephews, so I never got the whole baby thing.....until I had my own. It's an unbelievable feeling, to suddenly love someone more than you can possibly have imagined. Congrats, again. Jeff

Thanks, Jeff. So far, so good! I never thought I'd be able to kill an hour watching a baby sleep, but yup, can't seem to take my eyes off of her. If I'm not in the same room, I have a bit of an uneasy feeling and keep checking on her. Even if I am in the same room, I keep going over to her. It's been a cool experience thus far. Gotta try and keep myself in check here though before I go mad! I've been assuming all diaper changing duties because I didn't like the way my wife did it once. She's on board for this, but I know I need to chill a bit! And yes, I didn't really 'get' the whole baby thing myself, but it's like a switch was flipped on the moment she arrived. Now I get it!

Congratulations on the arrival of your first little one, rayman. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, she is a pretty thing! With a pretty name to boot. One thing I learned very quickly with newborns - and you might have learned already....there are actually some interesting (in a good way) TV shows on at 2:00 in the morning....

Thank you everyone. It's been a fun and tiring time, but we're getting into a routine slowly but surely. She has been exposed to some Tull and Rush in the minivan a few times. She seemed calm and was not crying, so I'm going to assume that means she likes them. I also noticed a Who concert on one of the HD channels the other night, so I put it on with the surround sound and she was in her swing, not minding the noise one bit, so let's assume she likes them too. She's a rock baby!
