Maybe one for the footie fans out there but Tull got an odd mention tonight on the BBC broadcast af the Poland vs Germany Euro 2008 match.
When talking about Stefan Billic, Croatia's coach, during the half time break they mentioned that he spoke five languages, played guitar in a rock band and wrote Croatia's Euro 2008 song....Gary Lineker then asked Aston Villa manager and TV pundit Martin O'Neill if he would fancy doing all that...
Martin replied "If I had my time over again, there could be nothing better than to play guitar in Jethro Tull."
Always thouight he had his head screwed on.
As a ps on celebrity fans....I meant to say that I saw Frank Skinner in the RFH gig crowd.

Nice one Mr. O'Neil, I admire your taste. Think I'll support Martins' team - Aston Villa?

I am mates with someone who worked at Villa with Martin, and I know for fact he goes to see Tull on tour whenever he can. By way of a link to football, I think John Belville, Tull and Stoke City fan, got to know the band due to a conversation with Barrie Barlow, who is a Villa fan.
Finally, when I was Secretary of Cambridge United - 1990 /98 - I used to namecheck Tull in the match programme, and took ex U's goalie Jon Sheffield, to see Tull in Cambridge in 1995

Barrie Barlow, who is a Villa fan. Well, if Barrie ever fancies coming down to White Hart Lane to see the Villa play then I'll stand him a ticket and a pint at half time to say ta for many years of drumming excellence.
