We need this, don't we... ;D To me the 2003 Songs From The Wood remaster is way too bright. Heavy Horses is OK with only a few missing strings that helped unclutter the sound. Really can't see the point in this re-issue TT. Long time and genuine fans will already have the originals in vinyl, CD, re-mastered CD etc.
I know that EMI are going through a bad financial period and I expect their reasoning is that this release will get some more money into their coffers.
I wonder if IA has given his approval or, as many may suspect, he has no say in the matter and EMI can do really what they like with these recordings.
Think I'll pass on this one.

Agree totally. Sick to the teeth of the same stuff being released over and over again. In my opinion most of the remasters are too bright and emphasise the flat mix of the originals (I wish Ian had used an outside producer, Barrie Barlow does too if you read his interviews) Needless to say I pass on this release

How about old new genuine fans?Got a listen to the Songs from the wood, and it is shall we say a tad brite indeed. But I don't agree on not reissuing stuff thats been done before. I would love to get my hands on a MFSL version of Songs from the Wood, its one of ,If not my outright favorite. But most avid Tull fans wouldn't let them pry it from there cold dead hands! There pretty rare(and If you have one that isn't so rare please let me know). I for one would love a reissue of the MFSL one or evn one from EMI If it was done right, then again I'm on the hunt for my newer CD collection, and any high borne Hunting Girls If they happen to be about

SFTW remastered version sounds great to me nice and lively ,similar to Minstrel I thought 'Too Old' and 'Passion Play' were a tad 'Dull/flat' in comparison

surprised no one ever mentions how the drums sound like wet cardboard boxes...........especially on heavy horses (a great album, but the bass and drums sound just awful) bursting out easily has the best mix, but the effect on the vocal are kind of irritating.........

Love the description tullatoon of wet cardboard boxes Bursting Out is certainly a great sound mix for a live album. Welcome along to the Forum and hope you enjoy having a good look around the place. Saw this in a store recently. Figured they put both albums in one since both albums were somewhat time-short, having been released in the vinyl days.
Chalk me up for also being sick to the teeth and highest chakra with all this re-issuing going on. It's desperado record-industry patronization of the bitterest kind (almost), on an audience that is being told it's going to be hauled off to Music Church and it better sit in the aisles and donate MORE AND MORE in complete denial of all sane values, while the Corporate Commie tactics are most obvious. Why am I bitter? I see dozens of artists doing this, yet the best of the artists creatively and the most integrated, are out there making new music all the time.

These re-issues are, for the main part and as far as I understand, probably due to copyright issues so that they don't go out of legitimate copyright and the terms of such are extended. I don't know the letter of the law about this but it would seem feasible.

I already have the remastered HH. Logically, and I think you'd agree with me here, the next thing for me to do would be to get engaged in activities whereby real heavy horses are promoted. You should see them at the Calgary Stampede, quite a few teams of them for various reasons, always perfect for a photo and I've landed a few great snaps over the years.
