Hey maddog, You've come up with another gem with this form. I'm just amazed where you keep finding all this stuff Have you got a spare room or 2 dedicated to storing JT memorabilia

From Record Mirror, 1968 The five year record deal with MGM came to nothing and Sunshine Day was never issued in the States on the Music Factory label.

I've been able to locate some of the pages from the "Official Site" going back quite a few years.
If there are any subjects/topics from the old site you'd like to see again post your requests here and I'll see if they are available.
Cheers
MD

Nice review but I'm not dsure if this guy's assigments of songs to album sessions really always matched the dates and musicians involved. Frequent changes in bass and drum spots allow us real Tullies to pinpoint song sources better than him.

On the one hand grateful for far and away the most extensive interview I have ever read with Martin. This must have been 87 so it does come as a bit of a surprise to see Doane referenced as someone who was not a full band member. Yeah I know they all but did not exist in the years following Doane's entry in 84, but when they did it was Doane. To see Don Airey, likely the most ill fitting member of Tull in terms of pedigree, arena rock basically, referenced more kindly was a bit galling, though I would not deny in large part he did a fine job during his 2 minutes with the band. Also completely agree with Martin as regards his early work with the band, those ten minutes when he would "solo" back in the day or quite usually a mind numbing bore, something he has vastly improved upon, although clearly his "solos" are not improvised, nor should they be, he is not that kind of player and is out of his depth when he does. Much as I love him, without Ian Anderson Martin would long since have been working a regular job. His flippant references to "saxophones", I'm guessing he played a tenor, did not win any points with me either. I believe in total respect for all instruments and the ability to reach godhead thru each, and with the various saxophones you are talking holy ground to me. And to say folk music was not a prime element in Tull's music is laughable, have heard Ian saying the same thing, though he illucidated it by saying it was a "folk memory", and that he did not like folk music because, "it reeked of duffel coats and students." I think Ian has changed his perception a tiny bit in the 25 years since that quote. I mean I get it, but frankly I believe the claim comes off sounding a bit ignorant, I try to steer clear of making such claims about any form of music, country, rap and hip hop included. I will agree that I don't know it. And referencing the professional guitar masturbator Eddie Van Halen, the king of shopping mall rock, several times was not fun for me. And Alan Holdsworth, a high quality operator, one mention will more than do. But it was Martin's interview, so go for it Martin.

The show was featured in Life magazine back in 1970. The US and UK editions had different covers if I remember correctly but the same article inside the magazine. I'll dig it out and post here when I have a moment. I'd love to see that! By the way, thanks a lot for all your uploads and scans, Doggie! I always enjoy them! Yes, there are a lot of photos of that show around, even the title of Greg Russo's book "Flying Colours" is taken from that. More here: images.google.com/images?q=jethro+tull+source%3Alife&q=source%3Alife&biw=1680&bih=849Cheers 10cars Had to do a bit of a Coral Photo House cut and splice job of the magazne pages as they wouldn't fit on my scanner. For the record, it's the International edition of Life magazine, 9 June 1070, and cost me all of 3/- (15 pence in funny money) when I bought it.

So pleased to see my old friend cyclops kitty set upon Vittese's keyboard, I knew I had not imagined it. I also see that it does in fact have 2 eyes, however, on that 82 tour, by way of heralding the band's imminent appearance on stage, a single green laser would come out of kitty's head as if overcome with excitement at the near arrival of his friends.

Oh what a feast of goodies you have young MD we'll have to call you the Glenn Cornick of the Forum ;D
I am amazed when I think of all the treasures hidden in our threads. It must be great for members old and new to read through what we have and for band members old and new who maybe weren't as much into collecting as say Glenn or fans like yourself to travel back down memory lane.
I have that pic of Ian teasing his hair but didn't know what it was from. Many many thanks

We'll have to find out where dear Cyclops Kitty went to. Probably locked away in IA's archive, getting dustier by the hour.
