How much is this vinyl worth? Original sleeve with pop up and the label is Island Records. The vinyl is in good condition as is the sleeve, a little ware around the edges. Big I on the label Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. i55.images obliterated by tinypic/rr0035.jpg[/IMG] <br /> i54.images obliterated by tinypic/11iicyb.jpg[/IMG] Thanks very much!

I reckon your copy of Stand Up with the large "i" label is worth upwards of £10 in the condition you state. If it had been on the first pink Island label with the circular design to the left of the label it would have been double the amount. The book/guide price for an unplayed and therefore mint condition copy of the first UK pressing is around £45. I'd be interested to know how much you do get for it - do let us know. MD

If the stand up figures inside the cover are in good condition and not torn, along with the pressing itself it can command a fair price. Look after it and it should go up in value in the coming years. Maddog/Graham

How does one look up current prices for old vinyl? Can it all be looked up under the one umbrella? Is there a website that catalogues such things? Or some compendium in book form - like the second-hand car guide? (Is that called 'Glass' Guide' or summat? - I forget) I am aware of the collectors book '6001 Record Collectors Dreams'.... but that (as it says on the tin) covers 6001 discs, presumably. I'd recently decided that a lot of my vinyl needs getting rid of (not the Tull!) - so it might be handy to look up the titles if there is such a general guide - the prospect of searching for each one individually ont web seems dauntingly time consuming....

A lot watch eBay. Mono and stereo cool tender packed in boxes, sold on eBay. Sold on eBay. Start with these (I kid). Hot off the press. The rarest, most valuable album of all time is... blog.rock.inmusic.ca/2012/06/the-rarest-most-valuable-album-of-all-time-is.htmlToo many too.

The “bible” for assessing the value of vinyl and cds here in the UK is “Rare Record Price Guide” published every couple of years by Record Collector Magazine. It costs around £27 but is invaluable for pricing your collection should you decide to sell items. It also contains an invaluable guide to grading records and a ready reckoner so you can then put a value on them. One word of warning though - should an item of yours be valued at, for instance, £20 and you go to a record dealer to sell it you are likely only to be offered around £10. Dealers normally only offer half of the value price. That’s one reason why so many people sell on eBay but do remember that the condition of vinyl and sleeve is the key to obtaining a fair price.
