Hi to All. I wanted to post some impressions by last's week I.A show in Vicenza. I felt a very pleasant atmosphere in this show. Probably Ian' s likes very much to have to do with young people. Flo in a very good shape during the show and I' ve appreciated the new drummer as a very fast drummer.Ian looked particularly happy, that evening, indeed. The show began with a slow Jack in the Green version. Maybe the I.A " War Machine " was preparing the engines, because the following 5 piceses were performed in a so brilliant way. In my opinion, the Sturcz quartet doesn't add much at the show. I mean, they are ok when playng with the whole band, but look like a bit boring when performing alone. Theyr SFTW and HH solo I've found so. Probably Ian noticed this, and right after HH, not finished yet, he entered ruuning the stage, as he offen do, performing a very brilliant Bouree version!!. After 15 minutes interruption, a " metal " Flo J.S Bach music version. Pleasant and original. From this, all the songs and the pieces of music, superb, really. That's what I meant as " I.A war machine ".One of the best Budapest i' ve everheard, also. Another time a sold out concert for the band. M.
Her You have the set list.
Jack in the Green. Hare in the Wine Cup. We Five Kings. Set Aside. Holy Harald. Another Christmas Song. Instrumental Rock. (A song unknown to me). In the Grip of Stronger Stuff. Sturcz Solo: SFtW, HH. Instrumental /Bouree Ian. .15 minutes interruption. Florian Bach metal version. Birthday Card at Christmas. God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. A Change of Horses. Past Time in Good Company. Budapest. Aqualung Instrumental. Locomotive Breath. M.

Very cool show Chea. This one's up on Dime Torrents, real decent recording too. I have to say I love the way your Italian transforms into English, perfectly well understood btw.

I like a bit of straight talking ;D As you describe Budapest as "one of the best" you've heard I'd loved to have been there just to hear that. I don't suppose you sneaked a video camera in,did you?

I've heard about the Sturcz quartet being a bit boring from another attendee at the show who contacted me this afternoon. Great stuff and thanks once again.

Hi Bunkerfan. I did'nt want to be bad for them,The Sturcz Quartet. I've found good in the sound together with the band. Only a bit boring during theyr solo performances, too much slow maybe is the best word. Not completely bad, anyway. :)I could not to take any photo or else this time, unfortunately.

Chea, your English sounds beautiful and quite easily understood!! Like alot of Americans I speak jack (not any)of any of any other languages. O I might know a handful of words or phrases of Spanish, French, German, Highland Scots!, Russian and Czech but I speak none of them even a little. That recent Italian show I was referring to I notice was actually from the prior week and now has mysteriously disapeared, at last check, as it did during the weekend past when I first tried to download it, a very decent recording indeed. While I agree with many in Tull land that Ian is hitting something of a high water mark recently, I will always disagree that it is after a long lull. Plenty of high marks in the past 5,10, 15 years. Yes there are points where the voice is quite problematic, might have a little to do with all the various climates he encounters, but there is always something of substance which redeems circumstances to some, and often a high degree. But there again I like/love Eurology and its relatives whereas something from the distant past like Back Door Angels rarely hit the mark for me save for seeing it from close range in a highly seasoned state.

Chea, your English sounds beautiful and quite easily understood!! Hi Tullist. That's very kind of you. To judge my English in this way is so generous from you. I have no exuses, because i have a British wife, iI should be able to speak an advanced English.... ::)I agree about Ian's voice, but many Fans make the mistake tojudge it only hearing from utube's videos or else. From live Ian's voice is still very ok, considering his age, how in many concerts even in one week he takes part....M.

I had little problem with the Thick as A Brick advert of some years back. (btw this is about the only British rock star who kept his home address and all its attendant tax concerns in Britain that u are referring to, eh Tom? Or the guy who rather than buying a football team, actually created about 500 jobs in the Highland jobless economy? Or the guy who sold his historically steeped tract on arguably the most beautiful part of Great Britain to the John Muir trust rather than cash in for a far greater profit with who ever the next millionaire sportsmen was?) Nevertheless if Ian were to do a commercial with his own personnage on display I believe it would only be done in a style that would fill most of us with great pride, re undeniably him on his own terms, pretty much like his entire career. Or like this brightest light, in terms of personality of the punk years, the only one of those individuals who could hold a candle to Ian Anderson, John Lennon, Miles Davis in terms of sheer personality, Johnny Rotten. The European viewers may be sick of seeing this thing, not sure how much it was shown, but this is very definitely him on his own terms, even though that which is being sold is butter! Also going to post a somewhat recent interview with Lydon/Rotten that also struck my bell just right. The commercial first. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mSE-Iy_tFYand the interview www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCgbRS2LrHY

No I wasn't there unfortunately but my friend Len did attend the concert. He sent me the links yesterday which are in flac format but there are some problems with some of the files and it took me hours to finally get an acceptable download onto CDR. I'll be posting the links in the Tulltechnics section soon - enjoy if you can get a decent download.

It's like all discussions about musicians the first part has to be personal taste and he just didn't do it for me. The other old cliche is confidence v arrogance and certainly both John's fall in there however I could forgive John Lennon's slight arrogance because he made more sense and had a much bigger impact than Lydon to all ages and future generations . Lydon comes across as "What I say (shout) makes sense to me and I am right" aka arrogance.

Johnny Rotten...Rotten johnny..
The first car i ever bought, in 2001, was hyundai Accent...the reasons: cheap, good warranty, I liked saying i have 'an accent' AND because i hoped a few pennies of my money would find it's way to ian's bank account for the advertisement he did for hyudai ( for a higher priced model than the one I bought)
The car was trouble free...the oil plug was not properly restored after a routine oil change and the engine soon seized...car worthless...i got a few pennies insurance but not enough to buy a new car, hyundai or otherwise!

A the Sex Pistols used to play Shadows tunes during their warm up/setting up before a gig. That always struck me as strange.
I believe J Rotton also rated Aqualung quite highly.

www.typicallyspanish.com/news/publish/article_29105.shtmlIan Anderson in Bilbao By h.b. - Feb 8, 2011 - 2:25 PM Jethro Tull are appearing as part of the BBK series of 'Music Legends' Speaking in Bilbao where he is giving concerts on Monday and Tuesday nights this week, Scottish flautist and the leader of group Jethro Tull, Ian Anderson, has said the folk music world is currently in an ‘infinitely more creative’ time. He has been performing as part of the BBK series ‘Music Legends’ which opened in January and which will see John Mayall, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman, Dr. John, and Marianne Faithfull all visiting the city. ‘Now we see how the groups of today are doing the things that the groups did in the 60’s and 70’s he said, while in the case of folk the phenomenon is totally different as it is undergoing a sort of revival in the U.K. It is following a totally new path, and being infinitely more creative than rock music’, said Anderson.

Ely Cathedral Christmas Show 2013www.elycathedral.org/www.elycathedral.org/welcome/christmas_at_ely_cathedral.html"...It is with great excitement that we announce that Ian Anderson, rock legend and classical musician, will be performing The Christmas Jethro Tull at Ely Cathedral. The concert will include traditional seasonal pieces such as 'We Three Kings' to music from Jethro Tull's highly acclaimed classic album, Aqualung." It still cracks me up the "highly acclaimed classic album, Aqualung" performed in a cathedral.
