I was about to enter a post when I noticed that the oh so very sad passing of Woolly had been mentioned. I was fortunate to see BJH on 3 occasions in the 70’s playing at the Edinburgh Usher Hall – and again in 2006 in Bristol. Woolly was a wonderful person and was the “front man” for the band. If anybody knows BJH, they will now that John Lees, albeit a brilliant singer/guitarist, is a man of few words during live concerts. However, Woolly compensated for that aspect with his friendly northern wit. Woolly was also a brilliant singer, song writer and keys player. His use of the mellotron is something to be heard. My love of BJH ran parallel with my love of JT during my “formative days” in the early 70’s and I feel like I have lost a close friend. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this time – it must be horrendous when a soul needs to resort to suicide, as was the case with Woolly. Thank you for those truly beautiful first four BJH albums, which are my favourites. God bless you Woolly.
