Best (?) cover version of Stairway To Heaven IMO is by Rolf Harris. The good folks at Glastonbury in whatever year he appeared sure appreciated it.

I dunno if it's recorded and released but i can tell you Noel Gallagher, singing 'yesterday, under a single spotlight, all by himself, brought tears to my eyes in about 1999.

Had a thought to listen to the song I loved as a child - Scarborough Fair imo one of the most beautiful songs ever with about a hundred cover versions. I had no idea as to the origin/s of the song or indeed the different theories as to the lyrics. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarborough_Fair_(ballad)one of the theories is that it had associations - at least the meaning of the lyrics - with an obscure ballad called The Elfin Knight - about an elf who threatens to abduct a young woman unless she performs an impossible task sung here by Ewan McColl and Peggy Seeger I wondered if Ian had ever done a version on the flute so I googled Ian Anderson and Scarborough Fair and was hopeful with the results until I discovered that an Ian Anderson is head of Scarborough Council and he doesn't play the flute. Found a beautiful version by Andrea Verscesi ... went back to the haunting version I heard when I was wee
