In my eBay store I have for sale a cd called 25 Very Rare Masters from the Sixties. It contains an early JT song I have never seen anywhere else. My eBay store is called Hickoworld. A tiny excerpt of the song can be heard halfway through this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4O7hi7jwPkPS I checked the Jethro Toe listing, but it had ended. What was the final price?

Yes, sure is real. The group issued 2 records in 1968 and Martin Barre is supposed to be on guitar. Check out wikipedia on the subject of martin barre and all is explained. First time i've ever seen a scan of the single though.

Thanks for that, I should brush up on my Tull trivia a bit more! A nice little collectable for someone with deep pockets! I certainly wouldn't shell out that sort of cash for a little piece of plastic but I'd love to hear it. No bids yet so if it goes unsold I might message him and offer a tenner.

Deep pockets required if fans start bidding. More likely to find it in an oxfam shop ! Wonder if MB himself has a copy and can get a remastered copy on any future box set - 45th anniversary set anyone?

Wonder if MB himself has a copy and can get a remastered copy on any future box set - 45th anniversary set anyone? fantastic idea, It would be nice to think some of the early Tull members have old tapes of the little group bands of their youth. It wouldn't warrant a proper release but as a curio included in a bigger set a disc of it would be excellent. It went for £270 in the end, so much for my plan! And speaking of crazy money, I just checked back on that second Aeroplane / Sunshine Day and it went for £781.01 Is that a record?

Not sure. I lost track sometime ago on Tull values on singles etc but I should think that's one of the highest sales of Sunshine Day. I did try to find out many years ago how many were pressed originally, both the demo verson on the red label and the yellow regular issue but only got a reply from an EMI employee of "possibly 500". Not much talked about the countfeit yellow MGM label singles these days. They must be possibly worth a bit these days.

I must admit paying £100s for two songs I've already got is way past where me and fandom part company though. I could think of a zillion things I'd rather spend that much money on. But each to their own I guess.

Tend to agree with you. If it was a "one off" rare acetate of an unreleased song(s) and I had the money then I might be tempted but the days of attempting to get some rare item, which is already on Cd are now in the past. Glad I'm not a Beatles vinyl collector as some of their rare stuff costs an arm and a leg - seems £1000's depends on whether the record company logo is in the correct position, or not ! Although I jest to a certain extent, my hat's off to those who do spend vast amounts of wonga on Tull rarities and try to collect everything because otherwise in years to come it could all become lost and we want to educate the generations not yet born on what we were listening to.

Although I jest to a certain extent, But not too much. Those Beatles collectors are a pretty hardcore bunch. I get the impression if the record company logo is indeed in the correct position they will put their mothers out on the street to buy it. Just out of curiosity (and to give you a chance to show off a bit) has anyone here got a Sunshine Day single?

Got a demo red label copy which I bought years ago in exchange for a Jimi Hendrix concert programme which I had a duplicate of. The programme originally cost 2/6p in old UK money and I sold it for £25 and bought Sunshine Day. The counterfeit copy I also have which was very cheap, £1 or so, and I wonder how much they go for today. Any ideas?

I think that was the final bid for this record. I forgot to mention that Sunshine Day & Aeroplane featured on the Polydor Records vinyl LP "Rare Tracks" issued in the UK in 1978. Both were dubbed from existing vinyl records as way back then the master tapes had vanished. Don't see this album featured a lot these days although the 2008 rare Record price Guide only values it at £12 even though it contains early items from, amongst others, Jimi Hendrix, Fairport Convention, Cream and Soft Machine.

No bids on the above bootleg. I'm not surprised as the seller was claiming it was a promo.

Hope for his or her sake it's real....'caveat emptor'...or something like that....it must be an investor...not merely a collector or Tullie, right? Maybe, as the world economy crashes down, the old Tull stuff will increase so my middling stash ( vinyl everything, including the common boots, autographed benefit, original newspaper brick and theater program play, a single or three) will send my kid to college.....I live in a dream world of hope and Tull!

It does make you wonder what other items are valuable, not only Tull but other artists. For example I have a promo poster for Jimi Hendrix which Record Collector valued in three figures and it makes you think what others may have thrown away in the past.
