Just read my issues 240 and 241...always happy to see Tull news from Bert in the inbox. He really is a bedrock TUll fan....I just hope the original title of his 'zine does NOT end up on Ian's headstone...

THIS IS NOT THE WAY IAN PLANNED IT!! FANCLUBMAGAZINE OF THE DUTCH JETHRO TULL FANCLUB THIS IS THE LAST ISSUE, 285 19 JANUARY 2022 The Dutch Jethro Tull Fanclub was formed on 14th May 1994. Chairman: Ger Aarts (14 May 1994 – † 27 June 1995) Ad Lohman (28 June 1995 – 06 September 2003 - † 16 June 2018) Since 7th September 2003: Bert Maessen - Rijksweg Noord 270 - SITTARD 6136 AG The Netherlands Email: dutchjethrotullfanclub@hotmail.com Contributors: † Shelley and Els "BIG STEVE" Parkhouse (editor) forever in our Hearts Thijs “Too Old To R&R” Mennen (private-driver, photo’s, articles) 30 YEARS OF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS NOT THE WAY IAN PLANNED IT!! Fanclubmagazine since July 1991 Hello there, It’s with great sadness that I give you notice that I intend to stop with the fanclub. All the news written in the magazines was direct from the Record Companies, especially from Warner Music. I never received any news from the band or management. Ian was really kind to send me “new years wishes” over the years, but that was the only thing I got. I am in contact with a few other fanclubs, like The Hollies, and they always have regular contact with the band. That of course gives a special feeling. I missed that, but it was never a reason for me to stop. Now the new records will appear on Sony. I’ve tried several times to reach out to them but with no reponse. Many years ago I started off by compiling a Jethro Tull bootleg list, (before CDs came into existance). Last July the fanclub celebrated 30 years!!!!! For 30 years I spent many hours a week in order to spread the news. Jethro Tull is a part of my life and it always will be. Now the time has come to listen to all those great albums and to make more time for this. If I were to continue with the magazine, then I would have to search on the internet for news, and well - I think everyone is able to do this for themself. You will be able to find all the news on the Official Jethro Tull website. Or go to: The Jethro Tull Forum www.jethrotull.proboards.comMy thanks to all of you for being a member of the fanclub. Especially I would like to thank "BIG STEVE" Parkhouse (editor). Without him I could never have done this. Also thanks to Thijs “Too Old To R&R” Mennen, who was my personal driver for years………. Enjoy the music of Jethro Tull. And Stay Safe !!!!!!!!!!!!!! By The Way: You can reach the email address until the end of April 2022. All the best, Bert (The Walrus)

Bert is Tull world royalty forever. "This is not the way Ian planned it" has been a pillar in information and Tull networking since long before the interweb. Sad to learn that 285 was 'End Game'. Bert and his colleagues can look at their body of Tull work with pride. THANK YOU.

LET’S GO BACK TO OUR ROOTS……
So, as you know the Dutch Fan club has now folded, but what you may not know is it’s being replaced by news on bootlegs, just as it was before September 2003.
My friend and editor “BIG” STEVE encouraged me to go back to my roots and yes….. It gave me a good feeling. A step back to the magazine as it was then, especially about LIVE TULL. About bootleg lp’s and cd’s. But also with news from/about Jethro Tull, Fairport Convention and of course from RAY and COLDFLAME!!
A lot of you are still members from the moment that I started with this and I hope you will enjoy this restart also.
However!!! I can imagine that some of you may not be interested in bootleg cd’s/lp’s. So if you do not want to receive this newsletter in the future, then just let me know. I will unsubscibe you from the mailing list.
I can then give you the latest news about Jethro Tull/Ian Anderson. And where you can find details about that.
Steve and I are collectors of live lp’s and cd’s, as we call “BOOTLEGS”. And now we are going back to our roots and talk about it. (And NO… we don’t sell these things, ok??)
We hope that you will stay as a member and of course, it’s all free ….
BERT (The Walrus) and “BIG” Steve

THIS IS NOT THE WAY IAN PLANNED IT!! ISSUE 289 09 JULY 2022 31 (!!) YEARS OF THIS IS NOT THE WAY IAN PLANNED IT!! Fanclubmagazine since July 1991 A Jethro Tull info magazine including bootleg reviews published by: >> Bert ( The Walrus) Maessen Rijksweg Noord 270 - SITTARD - 6136 AG - The Netherlands dutchjethrotullfanclub@hotmail.com >> and Editor SINCE ISSUE 2 !! : "BIG STEVE" Parkhouse Hello everybody……. During the last few months, I’ve been spending all my time re-landscaping my entire backyard. The borders are being changed and a whole new terrace has been built. As it’s a very large garden and my wife can't walk very well, I want to make it as comfortable and as user friendly as possible for her to use. With luck, it should be ready in two or three weeks. So now I'm starting to get some time to listen to music again and work on the fan club magazine. And just when I want to start again I received some terrible news. My Jethro Tull friend and partner of the Jethro Tull Forum, Graham Maisey passed away suddenly. This is the news that John Maughan sent me: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Bert, I'm afraid I have some dreadfully sad news that Graham Maisey died in hospital yesterday. His wife, Eileen has just rang me to let me know the awful news. Graham had been in hospital since 6th June after a fall at home. The first call I had from him just after he was admitted he sounded well and hoped to be home very soon but the last call I got from him last week he didn't sound too good but he was still hoping to start posting again on the forum so when I -02- heard the news this morning it was a huge shock. Graham was only 74 years old and certainly too young to die. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. John aka Bunkerfan, The Jethro Tull Forum --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We wish Eileen and her family all the strength to get over this heavy loss. Sometimes life is NOT a long song…………………… Bert Maessen Steve Parkhouse
