The saxaphones played on Passion Play: Soprano and sopranino saxes...are notoriously difficult to play...sort of oboes with balls...but very tempramental reeds and narrow range of manageable tones...easily derailed by humidity, tired lips and other factors which made their use live and in the studio challenging...by war Child ian seems to have had enough and replaced them with the more mainstream and much easier alto saxaphone.

Thanks steelmonkey, I've never tryed playing a saxaphone before but if that soprano sax is that hard to play I don't think I'll bother, it all sounds a bit too painful to me.

When my friends and i gathered for a ritual first hearing of the new Tull album....and imagine how anticipated was 'War Child' after brick and Play, the first commenet out of my stoned mouth ( in a room full of very serious 15 and 16 year old Tull fans....all male, i may add), was: "hey, ian's learned another instrument: Air raid siren"....I was promptly and humorlessly told to shut the F up and pay attention....which i did....
