I do like Reading Hexagon and normally go there but seeing as their playing Oxford it would seem silly not to go there, it being a few miles down the road for me . Mind you I did go to both some years a go ;D

What with multiple shows in Florida and the possibility of it continuing for another few years there's only one thing for it - retire to Florida and open a Tull themed bar i48.images obliterated by tinypic/33k80u9.jpg [/IMG]
this lady looks like Madge from itvs Benidorm!!!!! if this is the case she'll have plenty of fray benti!!!!

Remember, all of you, to pray for their health and success so the tour doesn't sputter out a moment early....not just for me waiting for California dates in October...;but for the possibility of dates further afield ( Canada, Australia, South America) beyond 2012....a long, long run for the double brick tour...can i get some 'Amens'?...Successful plays get extended runs...why not the current tour which is earning rave reviews if not sold out shows with shut out fans weeping or rioting outside the venues ( yet)....I have a feeling the sell outs will increase as the tour rolls on...well, except in Florida where 7 shows in close proximity might compete for the entertainment dollars of the few dozen rockers down there not scheduled for dialysis during gigs. i'd be worried if i were you steel mate!! by the time he gets to california he'll be sh****d out ha! ha! you might get a few different numbers they'll be so sick of playing the same thing night after night!!!!!

Worst Case Scenario: Amount of energy and entusiasm required to perform the current production minus amount of energy expended on 7 Florida shows equals tour suspended before it crosses the Mississippi River........nightmares i tell you....I'm having nightmares....

Just back from Oxford. Can't say too much as not everyone has seen it yet. But an amazing show: some amusing bits, some laugh out load bits; good use of video; some superb musicianship; great vocals from the young lad Ryan; and Ian played flute. TAAB2 wasn't bad either, though suffered a bit in comparison with the tour de force that formed the first half of the show.
They really MUST get a DVD done of it!

Here's an email I got from a dear friend, Penny, who travelled to London a few days back to catch IA in concert - a viewpoint from someone who isn't an out-and-out Tull fan, but a music-lover in general....
''Having been forewarned that I was to see a 'show' rather than a 'concert', my expectations were low, so I wasn't disappointed. His band were very good - more-than-capable lead guitar & keyboards, and his flute soared away, so it was just the vocals that were lacking really. Ryan O'Donnell plays a sort of Mini-Me to Ian, which is bizarre. Not sorry I went. Had a trip of the London Eye in the afternoon, so enjoyable all round. P xx''
.....wasn't sure which thread to post this on - the 'tour' one winning out over the more recent 'voice' one.
Interesting that someone relatively neutral had no preconceptions re the missing-Martin B, and also picked up on the voice deterioration, no?

Been there...by bike...remember signs in restaraunt window: 'Wir Sprechen Bratwurst' ;D ;D They've made a programme about "characters" on holiday in Benidorm. Madge on her hired wheels is one of them - say no more

I noticed they spreched bangers and mash as well as bratwurst in benidorm....you know you're deep in touristville when Spanish restaraunts advertise 'authentic paella'....

i watched the first three series of Benidorm, it was funny when johnny vegas was in it, then it jumped the shark as they say, and its been absolute crap ever since and a haven for washed up british soap stars......awful.

Oxford was a great show and the high light of me was TAAB2. I was a bit too close to the guy who was picked out to go up on stage but I would have gone if it had been me As said superb musicianship from all and I did like Ryan's singing but Ian was in good voice even more so on TAAB2. It has to be said Ian is a true showman Had the pleasure of meeting Ian at the stage door after the show. After that when waking back to our car Ian and wife were walking in front of us and had problems finding the door to the underground car park. Good to see the real life of a rock star

Went to the Reading show last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it - certainly more than any Tull gig of the last 10 to 12 years. It had a fresh, 'musical theatre' feel to it which took it all up a level. And really liked the band - shouldn't single anyone out but Ryan and Florian did a brilliant job. Great night out! Just a shame the place wasn't packed to capacity. We had a row to ourselves in the balcony!
There's GOT to be a DVD....hasn't there?
Edit - should've added that I found it all quite moving, in a strange and unexpected way. And not simply because 'Tull' are so clearly back on form. Primarily to do with the subject matter, the staging and my time of life, I think!!

The current tour does have a 'Musical Theatre' feel about it which I also liked, the fact that it isn't Jethro Tull seems to be keeping the audience numbers down though.

Reading show-brilliant and exceeded all expectations. Loved the whole staging of the show which had a lot of thought & creativity in it.My thoughts in no particular order: -Very brave to put on a show which comprises the whole of a single piece of music from 40 years ago and then follow it up with the whole of a new work. Most musicians of IA vintage will play 2 or 3 tracks from a new work at most(the exception being Yes on the latest tour when they played nearly the whole of "Fly from here" and that was a total success too).Shows that he's still got passion for what he does. -TAAB1-I would have attended this show just hear this live for the first time. For me a special piece of work and one of the few I return to time after time and time again and still find inspiration and enjoyment. In all honesty,it was quite emotional for me ,particularly when Ian came on stage left and played/sang the opening refrain-talk about a lump in my throat.A fabulous performance and the use of the 2nd singer was a masterstroke.OK-his voice is shot but I for one couldn't care less-it was a joy to behold-he could have spoken it for all I care.I've been playing the CD in the car for the last few weeks and what kept hitting home to me was this was written when IA was about 24/25yo-having already written Aqualung.Just amazing when you consider the whole thing musically,lyrically,thematically-I struggle to think of any comtemporary who could open a piece of work with "Really don't mind if you sit this one out/my words but a whisper you're deafness a shout"-what a great couplet-genius. TAAB2-the real suprise.Really a strong piece of work live-totally different but very valid in 2012(for me anyway)-highlights for me were Wootton Basset/Changing Horses & Kismet-as good as anything I've heard for a long time. The band-outstanding.I think its appropriate that IA has chosen a new bunch of musicians for this rather than the old guard-mind you,I still think that Clive Bunker & Glenn Cornick should still be with the band.!!All highly proficient and sympathetic players. Attendance-probably only 2/3 full which was a shame but they are also playing Oxford and High Wycombe which must eat into the fan base, not to mention Guildford & Bristol, both of which I would have gone to to see this if it hadn't been at Reading.Too concentrated in the Home Counties/Thames Valley.Having said that, the stalls were almost packed other than the sides and the reseption was enthusiastic. £28.50-bargain of the year!Don't miss it and fingers crossed for a live album.

-TAAB1-I would have attended this show just hear this live for the first time. Aye, I'd never seen anything more than the first 8 minutes of TAAB performed live before - seeing the whole thing, and seeing it as a show and not just a bunch of musicians playing on stage by rote - was worth every penny and more. If that had been all there was, I'd have gone home very very happy. TAAB2 was just an added bonus! I loved the way seamless way in which Ian and Ryan swapped vocals - and Ryan acted the role perfectly too. Not sure what the attendance was at Oxford. It wasn't a sell out but the Circle where I was looked about 90% full - just seats left around the sides - and the stalls also looked full. You're right about there being quite a few Home Counties concerts though, which may have kept attendance at each down a bit.

Thanks from me too for those reveiws. Makes me wish I was going to see it all again. An excerpt from the official site.................. Ian will take the original album to a theatre near you. It will be performed in its entirety in a theatrical setting with band, and additional guests.Shouldn't it read guest, as in Ryan O'Donnel? Apart from the guests on the video's that is.

Oxford was full in the stalls apart from one seat at the end on the front row, from what I could see. I think the circle was pretty full but it's hard to see it all from the stalls. As for the upper circle you can't see it at all from downstairs! Normally Tull play Oxford or Reading not both. Living near Oxford I just go to the one their playing . Funny thing last year on the solo tour they didn't go to either and I ended up in Milton Keynes
