I think it was 05 anyway, may have been 04. Only stickin this in here because it ain't yet. While an argument can be made for any of the standard release, (and some of the not so standard like that one from Turkey in 91) live Tull videos as their best, including the anniversary ones and the under valued Living With The Past, (Ian and Martin tradin off Tull lightning bolts during Cross Eyed Mary pretty much gets the point across)I believe their very best is this Montreux one, and in such a cool setting. You know, Montreux man, Miles, Monk, Duke those guys. In fact I love the way Ian hisses the word jazz before God Rest Ye, beautiful, and blessedly improvised, at which he is best, a jazz verbalist. I find the group interplay during Living in the Past to be of so high an order that they could just about leave the stage when that is done, they ain't left nothin to be said. Added to this is Ian's voice, which, as i have felt to be the case many times since 99, has sounded not just passable, but very very good which I feel is the case throughout this show, his voice holds up beautifully and is reeking with character and the usual killer facial expressions and sudden lunges.

I recently hooked up my surround sound system after letting it sit in boxes since buying a new place well over a year ago. The new Rush DVD inspired me and after listening to that, I needed more music mixed in 5.1 ASAP. I bought the Montreux DVD and it is great! The surround mix is less than impressive, I will admit but the sound is very good overall. The band is tight and I think this DVD more or less captures the essence of being at a Tull show, which is all I ask for in a concert DVD of any band.
Does anybody know of any filming done on this tour? It was a great show and it would be nice to have it documented. I wish more bands would release a DVD after each tour, it's simple enough to do and results in more $ for them, so why not?

The live at Bethlehem DVD was also from 2003 Ray, but it's not a vintage Tull performance. Thanks Col, but what I actually meant by this tour was 2008. I really enjoyed the set this past year and would love to have a DVD of it. I wonder if anybody noticed and filming efforts at any shows. I know I saw nothing at the shows I went to. They did play a few larger venues over here that I know would easily accommodate recording, like Red Rocks. Tull, Live at Red Rocks, how cool would that be?

I noticed the Tull crew were filming at the concert that i went to in Prague on 6th November 2008. They were standing at the back and filmed the whole show. Tull will probably make a DVD out of that, well i hope they do anyway!

Ah right sorry Ray, my mistake! I didn't hear of any of the UK dates being filmed which is a shame it being the 40th Anniversary tour with all the special guests. Do I remember a show from Europe around that time being filmed and broadcast on TV in whatever Country it was? If I'm right about that I would imagine there will probably be an unofficial DVD of that doing the rounds already!

I suppose it depends as to whether you have a super delux extra large TV screen TT. I've found the bog standard TV shows the dvd well enough although when I get some ready cash in the future I may go to blue ray. Anyone else with any first hand experience of blue ray?

Yes, I'm well versed on blu-ray. (two Panasonic blu-ray players) The DVD has a good picture when upscaled to 1080p - I was wondering about the DTS-HD Master Audio that is only available on the blu-ray. The DVD includes standard DTS. Has anyone had the same experience as the sound quote below. Maybe I should trust in this review. LOL The blu-ray is over $20 here. The DVD was under $20. I hope it is not like this: Buyer beware:www.quadraphonicquad.com/forums/showthread.php?11942-A-HARD-DAYS-NIGHT-Blu-Ray-AVOIDCan't sleep? Head spin? Don't think in circles, it'll do you in.

I love the Blu-ray of this with the HDmaster audio. Although I had to get a new HDMI cable as the one I had couldn't handle the HD sound very well and the picture kept cutting out and at the time it was very annoying.
